2/24 update w/pics added Peltor 6S, Team Wendy Peltor QR adapters, a home-cobbled together version of Helmet War Bungie (thanks DownRangeGear), a Guardian Adventure IR Strobe and EOG (I think) counter weight pouch.

Thanks for your interest and suggestions.

One day I'd like to try some Silynx or similar in the ear style HearPro.

ETA: Peltors are "upside down" so that the scalloped edge presents to the stock to allow a better cheek weld for when I'm clearing my house for fun!

Mine too. Then they relisted at $135.
I've filed a complaint with eBay. I urge you to do the same.

That is unsat.

Sad thing is, the seller had a couple other things listed that I was thinking about picking up, too.  Needless to say, that is most certainly not happening now.

Stepping up mah game I sent some tubes & glass off to Ryan at Nightlong Industries for a pigtail delete & build & he sent me back a box of awesome! The Sentinels are an incredible goggle. I was on the fence between these & the MOD-3, ended up going this way because these are just built extra tough. They were made to take a beating & that means a lot to me. I can't thank Ryan enough, he answered a ton of emails, with a ton of questions, that I most likely should have researched a bit more beforehand & already known the answers to lol.

Some indecision on my part about which way I wanted to go, first I was set on this, then asked about that, then he laid out some options & ended up going this direction. I'm glad I did, these are amazing. Binos are simply the way to go, acquire them at all costs, there is no going back after adding that second tube

Showing PA some love.

Now check these out.... amber filters that are built into the eyecup retaining rings. These are what finally sold me on amber filters, they really save your eyeballs & I can hardly use NODS without them after these. They are much, much more low profile than the Wilcox filters & IMO a more elegant solution. They may be a shade or two lighter than the Wilcox as well, which I really like. The Wilcox seemed very dark to me at first & just big, bulky & I wasn't digging it much. Found these & I can't suddenly can't live without them.

And those are my new binos, Id like to say my night vision quest is over...but its not, not by a long shot... it never ends man  Again, big thanks to Ryan over at Nightlong. He has been a great help & a great resource. Its fantastic we as consumers have guys like him, putting out great work in such a small community.

Really wish I had a sure way for you to get some, but I simply lucked into them myself. I had read about them a few years ago, heard they were being offered from Ident Marking down in TX for a bit, but they weren't selling them anymore. Just found them for sale on ebay from Pete Lesbo of Isquared night vision. I had actually tried to get in contact with him before about them, but hadn't heard back. Like I said, I just got real lucky seeing that he put a small lot up on ebay about a year ago.

Here's his webpage, maybe you'll have better luck getting in touch. They really are fantastic.

Dude, get them. Acquire binos at all costs, they are amazing! I put a pair of literally spotless L3 OMNI VII's in them. They put my ITT tube to shame, literally no contest, but then again the VII's were spec'd very, very high. They are stunning to look through.

I went from a USGI one hole mount to this FMA shroud, and to be honest I don't notice any difference.  The Rhino locks up nice and tight.  I also have four friends with FMA helmets and they all work just fine, too.  The FMA helmets come in several configs, I chose this one because if the shroud ever does give out, I can always remove it and buy a legit shroud and install it in the same spot, using the same helmet.

I have an fma helmet / shroud and i had to trim a tiny bit on  the inside of the shroud to fit the rhino arm. It locks up perfectly with zero play now. Thrilled with it. I dont think it would hold up to warzone or tak8ng some massive dives, but it is truly solid for what it is. Cant be any worse than the ops core shroud. Lol

I got mine from <gulp> Arms Unlimited.  They had the best price.  FWIW, I personally had no issues with them, though others have not had the greatest experience with them.  I would call them to confirm stock status before ordering, though.

Homemade:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_18/459476_Augee_s_Random_DIY_Corner___Custom_Flying_WV__WVU__IR_Reflective_Patch.html&page=1&anc=4524250#i4524250

In other news, I finally found an Ops-Core Maritime cover at a non-butt rape price, so it looks like my Maritime Base Jump (Extreme Watersports) is getting a new cover soon, too.

Sorry, no new photographs for page ownage.

I'll play... I posted a text update in another thread about restoring my old MICH. Figured it was time for some pics. I wore the hell out of this thing after years of use around the world and hadn't had a need for it until recently. With this, I decided to do a complete overhaul to include modern updates, while maintaining some old-school flair. When I went to work, the chin strap screws were fused solid with rust and it took some serious hacksaw work to remove them. I gave her a fresh paint job to eliminate the "poop brown" look we went with back then. I also added Team Wendy Epic Air pads and an Ops Core H-Nape. Way more comfortable than the old black pads and chinstrap which never clipped across my chin before... was always across my throat (probably a small strap on a large helmet). I kept an old three hole shroud and TATM for nostalgia purposes, but I came up with my own mod to add a Wilcox lanyard in the mix. Really impressed with this as the lanyard will rotate freely if you flip up the 14's and my Gen 1 bungee setup clears it without issue. The rest is pretty self-explanatory.

"Anybody want a peanut?"

I'm sure the angle has something to do with it, but my callsign was Sasquatch.

Did our annual 4 day Hog hunt/Long Range Shooting trip with about 20 of my friends. I'll dump some pics.

We didn't kill a single hog, we all got to drunk and that fire was warm. The rest of the pics are all the long range stuff we did, we had targets from 600 yards to 1550 yards.

Seems like it would be a lot of work to keep all the objectives focused.

I've only gotten to play with one at a school, but it's surprisingly easy to use.  And it's like cheating in the dark, damn cool system.

I'm starting to learn why you folks spend so much on helmets and accessories.

The city I live in has a 300 acre public park, which has a 3 mile walking trail around a lake. It's densely forested, and for the most part, isolated from street lights, so it makes a very cool place to play with night vision while getting out of mom's basement.

Tonight I walked the full trail. The setup seems to work okay. The big issue I have is that getting the helmet to sit at the correct position with the PVS14 on the front requires cinching the straps really, really tight. It isn't uncomfortable to wear, but I've had the clasp snap open a few times. The mount is kind of rickety, and I intend to eventually buy a bungie cord/lanyard for that. Should I consider getting a counterweight? Will that allow me to loosen the straps a bit?

The Amarillo crew really let us down this year.

Good thing it's already getting planned for next year.

Your pic wasn't showing up for me, so I fixed it.

I would suggest getting a counterweight pouch for the rear of your helmet.  I'm assuming the lack of counterweight is why your helmet is so front heavy, resulting in you having to crank the straps down to the point of discomfort.  A little bit of weight on the rear should be just the ticket to balance it out.

First, try a double pistol mag pouch with two fully loaded double stack mags and see how that works.  Don't spend any money until you know a counter weight would be a solution.
