Inner city stargazing; yet another activity made possible with the handy PVS14.

No stars (the lights are aircraft).

This game works in rural areas too, except you go from lots of stars to stars you didn't even know were there. At least that was my recollection from cola warrior.

Thanks!

It works well, just needs to be cropped at the top and bottom to remove the jagged edge from the stitching.

On vacation, left my Sentinels at home.

Twin comes through in the clutch and loans me a set of PVS-7s.

Orange Beach through NODs.

I wasn't satisfied with my makeshift gorpro mount, since the wide angle lens meant that the majority of the pixels were wasted on the area around the tube. My dad got me a fancy new cellphone that takes pictures twice as good as my old digital camera, so I came up with makeshift night vision camera, mark II.

One day I will have the money, and will probably get a TNVC gopro mount for live video. I learned that they will let me use my night vision at a couple of Friday night competitions around here.

More inner city stars.

Plants definitely have higher definition.

Never tried a panoramic picture before, but it is pretty cool.

1st try at a iPhone panorama with a PVS14 in the basement...pretty neat.
Edit...photobucket really dropped the resolution.

My budget build repoted May 1992 MX 10130A into a 10130B can and a new PVS-7D housing.

L3 tubed PVS 14 I got from TNVC a few years ago. IR on in a completely dark garage. Much clearer than the 20 year older tube.

You guys sell great products, I think these tubes can last for a long time. Just look at that 10130A surplus tube. That is desert storm era technology and it's still going strong. The pictures are screen shots of video so it really doesn't show it as clear as it should. I might get another tube for cheap and try to make a budget two tube setup. ANVIS housing are not cheap. Would like to use the PVS 7 parts I have to save funds.

Was in the market for a PVS14 to prepare for some hunting season and recently jumped on the TNVC Omni VIII WPT blem sale offered to us at ARF.

Picked up a tube with the following specs;

SNR: 37.2
Photocathode: 2581
LP/MM: 72
EBI: 1.2
Halo: .66

I just received the 14 from TNVC today via FedEx.

I apologize about the iPhone quality pictures and it's a bright night in Texas, lots of ambient light from the moon :)

I'll be running this pvs through some trips to the property over the next couple weeks and will try to get some better pictures up.

Thanks to OsoGrande for the idea of doing an iPhone pano. Here's a couple shots from creeping around this evening. All through a 10160 tube, part of a Mod-3 build.

Awesome pics!

I've tried to take a few freehand holding my S5 and snapping through my PVS 14, but they look like crap. Had a nice view of Andromeda last week and tried like hell to get a good pic, but my best still looked pretty bad. I need to come up with a way to snap decent pics.

Video through the COTI.
Very dark night with no moon.  You can see how it auto contrasts as I add more or less of the horizon in the frame.  This is in white hot and in Patrol mode.

An old ATN OTS-X.  Best picture taker I have but it only does 20 at a time and then takes 15 mins to download to a computer.

Just got home.

No moon, no stars. Some road lights maybe a mile away and a couple random small lights.

You could see nothing with the naked eye. Pvs-7 gen 3, gated. Thin film.

Pics don't do it justice

Other side of the road more lights but not by much

Phone pics are tough. Doesn't bloom near as bad as it looks. The image seems slightly off though, and I don't know how to line them up. Nothing in the manual about it.

Also, don't mind the UFO at the top. Moon glare.

I see Nivisys has TACS demo model(s) for sale at $2,250
TACS "Thermal Acquisition Clip-On System", to be added to
night vision monocular with 320 x 240 VOx sensor

No affiliation but that sounds a great price for someone looking to add a COTI type thermal to their NV
