Form 4, individual to a trust: Mailed April 7 Approved August 5 Rec'd August 12 Wow! First 4 I've seen reported in a while and I think the first one I've hard about after Jan. Let me clarify, it was to a SOT, so 4 months isn't exactly a record at all. |

Received the final approved eForm 1 I was waiting on Sunday. Submitted 2/22 and approved 8/14, 175 days.
Now all I still have out there pending are several paper Form 4s. |

Pending SBR submitted on 4/18... going to be a long wait...
I think the reason for the slow down in February is that is about the time frame when 41F was announced/was put on the books go into effect in July so people started filing a lot of forms... |

I sent a Form 4 Individual in, March 1st. Check cashed March 15th. Dealer called and said my stamp came in Monday.

In 2014, WA approved SBRs again. Then in May 2015, they decided it wasn't written to allow Form 1 SBRs and all our pending Form 1s got denied. Now finally, June 2016 Form 1 SBRs are allowed again. Election coming in November, with long wait times, I wouldn't hesitate to get something in the queue. |

ETA: for argument sake figure a single form takes 5 mins, in an 8 hour day they could process approx 100 forms/ea with 10 examiners that would be 1,000 forms/day multiply that by 261 working days in a yr and you get 261,000 forms processed/yr (if they were basically robots) View Quote Approvals may well take over a year for the 41F glut, but I would suggest that the math above is likely off base. We know that when the examiners get behind they are authorized to work unlimited overtime. People are getting approvals at 2am on Sundays etc. I'm guessing the "8 hour day" part of the equation is inaccurate during such high volume times. My guess is, everyone in that office is milking the hell out of that cow so they can rake in the ot. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile They have been behind for the last 2yrs at least I would say it takes a lot more time per form than 5 mins as well so add that into the equation.. even if you double the last figure your still only at 522k forms/yr and we know from approval times that they are still working on forms from the last fiscal yr approx 5 months into the next so they obviously are not working 16hr days. this is just a generalization, hopefully someone with more math skills can really hone it in. |

Regardless of any math formulas or overtime or what not,
Its ridiculous for the cash we are shelling out to have these forms processed. If it was handled in the private sector more examiners would be assigned to get these things punched through more efficiently in hopes to generate more revenue. I know, I know, .gov and all, but I got a passport back in a single week and I figure more people apply for those than form 1 or form 4s |

ATF's 41F "Comments" section, they mention backlog going from 81,000 in Feb 2015, to 51,000 in Oct 2015. So 30,000 forms, in 5 months, with 27 examiners. Assuming they dont work OT and only 40 hours a week Mon-Fri... do the math
ATF also states they estimate 15min to conduct and review background check, with average trust/legal entity having 2 responsible persons on it. I dont know if that is in addition to processing the actual Form 4. |

It means they processed 30K more forms than were submitted during that time...basically reducing the to-do pile by 30K while items were still being added. So, it would be 30,000 plus the number of firms submitted in 8 months. |
