damn, some of you guys are really obsessed with silencers. Don't get me wrong, they are cool and I have some, but more suppressors than SBRs? That's just crazy talk.
As always, to each their own, I just never would have guessed that a gun guy would take that approach... |

was six this morning then one of my stamps came in.

I've just never had the desire. I suppose a can would be cool. But I don't know much about them. I'd rather spend a grand on a quality optic, or accessories, or reloading supplies. There's plenty of information here on Arfcom should I ever change my mind. Am I wrong? |

There's plenty of information here on Arfcom should I ever change my mind. Am I wrong? View Quote Here's what you need to know about a can: -- Most of them are hearing-safe, which means you can shoot without hearing protection. This is great at private ranges, or even at public ones when there are no other active shooters. If you ever need to shoot a firearm in self-defense inside your home, it will prevent you -- and your wife, and kids and pets -- from suffering permanent, irreversible hearing damage. -- Suppressors greatly reduce recoil, which in turn promotes accuracy and, for large calibers, reduces shooter fatigue. Most shooters that shoot both unsuppressed and suppressed identical firearms, in my experience, are more accurate with suppressed guns. (In addition, in some cases, suppressors actually reduce/moderate turbulence around the muzzle, which in turn promotes accuracy.) Finally, though this has nothing to do with function ... IMHO suppressors are simply more polite. In Europe, shooting unsuppressed in most situations is considered at about the same level as driving a vehicle with no muffler -- perhaps legal, but very rude. So I have a muffler on each of my vehicles, and a suppressor on all of the firearms that I shoot regularly. Your Mileage May Vary. |

I know that there is a ton of info here on arfcom about suppressors. None of my friends have them, so that likely has more to do with it than anything else. I've just never been exposed to them. But I am curious about them. Thanks again! |

Do suppressors really minimize recoil? I mean, would they make it less than a weight with the exact same mass hanging on the bbl? When I use mine, it is less than shooting without it, but I'm not sure it's really cutting recoil by design... Seems like its just the weight...

July 7 will have me at 4 months on a SiCo Omega. I'm gonna go nuts waiting on it. The only consolation is that it's balls hot with a burn ban out here and I haven't been shooting in a couple months.
I need to get a couple more SBRs done but probably won't until after 41f and I'll regret it. |

I tell most people looking for their first one that the most disappointed NFA owners are those that shoot their own can on a 5.56 host after spending hundreds of dollars and waiting months, but had never shot one before. |
