Anyone here have SBR's and no suppressors? I just filed my first three eforms to do a couple of 10.3 SBR's and I have the stuff to put together 1 upper once I get my approvals. Anyone fire SBR's this short without suppressors or even own SBR's without owning any suppressors? I am just wondering whether I should get the stuff to complete my builds or try and buy a can?

Just get a can...you know you want to.

The 10.3" is perfect for a can and the can makes them much more pleasant to shoot, especially, should the need arise, inside your house.

Is it going to be in 300 BLK?

Negative. 5.56. I do want a suppressor but was thinking that I should finish my builds first.

ETA: anyone heard about the 41p ruling? Is it still looking like May? Any chance of sooner or later (would be nice!)?

I started off with a SBR and can... that grew into another SBR which prompted the purchase of two more cans... I shoot my SBR's with and w/o the can I have now.  Once I get my other two cans out of jail, one will go on one of my 18" SPR-type rifles and the other is going on one of my 18" 6.8 SPC rifles... thus still leaving me with a SBR naked... but with the QD FS, switching is fast and easy... GET A CAN.

I started with an efile sbr, not even 4 months later I had a suppressor in hand and im now waiting on 2 more. Go for it OP, like many have said they go soooo well together. Get the ball rolling sooner than later you will be glad u did. Good luck its def worth the wait/expense!

OP, buy the can now. If 41P happens you will kick yourself for not doing it. You do nt have a time frame to build your SBR so once you have the stamp in hand for it you're good to go and can build it as you have money for it. If you have the money for the can now do it ASAP.

Thanks. I was just conflicted since the DD MK18 uppers are on sale for 900!

I shot my 11.5" sbr without the can, until the paper work for the can was approved.  Like it better with a can on it.

SBR is gonna be pretty loud, suppressor or no. Get yourself a can (or two), a quality firearm (or two), some subsonic ammo, and have a blast.  Rimfire is the cheapest and most satisfying way to start with suppressors, I think. Maybe a pistol centerfire.

You need both...

I have a 11.5 SBR and have no plans of getting a can.

SBRs and suppressors are natural mates.  Buy it now.

I had 9 SBRs before I got my first and only can. State law prevented cans in MO for most of that time but I never really had much of an interest for cans. But I'm prob the exception...

Apologies for getting back to you so late (work at a busy hospital) but the sale was at DSG Arms over the weekend. I purchased the upper for 913 shipped and will pick it up tomorrow from UPS. It is complete DD MK18 upper in FDE with BCG. I am going to go with the old ARFCOM recommendation that surprisingly I didn't get here and GET BOTH! I will be seeing the dealer that sells suppressors this week sometime. I have a thread in the suppressor forum regarding which suppressor I should get!

My state (MA) doesn't allow suppressors.

But I have a 5" SBR 9mm.

As long as you don't put a brake or comp on the sbr it's bearable without a can. Brakes make 10" guns miserable without a can.

My MK18 is much more fun to shoot with the can than it was without. It rattled you a little before the can.

For SBRs of that length, you guys recommend the regular cans or the minis? I'm trying to hold out for the new Surefire Socom2 cans...
