A friend of mine has asked me to research the sale of his HK 93 w/ Vollmer conversion. I checked the EE NFA section but did not find any info/advice on how to proceed. The plan is to arrange a private sale and, if out of state, transfer handled by New Frontier Armory. Please excuse my ignorance of the process.

The EE NFA section didn't have much in the way of MG sales, is there a another good site to list the sale?

Any info, advice, or links that might help?

Some porn (he didn't know that there was an AR mag with his stuff):

The only information that i can find is:

find a buyer and agree upon price
the registered owner files a Form 4 with information from the buyer (buyer pays $200 tax stamp?)
wait for approval (ideally buyer is incorporated or has NFA trust)
if in same state, complete transfer with buyer once Form 4 approved and payment received
if in different state, arrange transfer through FFL (SOT?)

Any steps missing?

If the Form 4 is approved, but buyer backs out or doesn't pay what happens?

Buyer pays the $200 stamp unless there's some negotiating involved.

I wouldn't file an F4 unless the item was paid for. Write up an agreement to refund the money if it was Disapproved for some reason.

If it goes out of state, you have to file two F4s and pay the $200 stamp each time. One transfer to dealer, one transfer to buyer.

Thank you for the answers. If put on consignment, is it still two transfer tax payments?

Only if the sale is to an out of state buyer.  If the sale is to an in state buyer, there is only a Form 4 between the owner and buyer...
