I thought it might be beneficial to start a thread where people can record there experiences with the various staff members of the NFA Tech Branch. While the Tech Branch hasn't always been the best behaved (the infamous shredding incidents) they are generally regarded as better now and staffed with people who can be really helpful. So post your experiences with specific agents, demeanor, promptness, quirks (some people are anal over one thing while others are not). I'll edit these into the OP. The point of this thread is not to slag people (and I don't care what happened, stay fact based on what happened), it's to help newbies or people getting new examiners info about the person who is handling there form. Also lets not be creepy and post personal information or links if you find it (not counting linkedin of course), as we want to help people with the Forms and not stalk people.

Here is the staff listed taken from tony_k's sticky

I believe Edna Brown is the new secretary or maybe a CS contractor.

And in my short time visiting the NFA world, everyone at the ATF has been polite, professional and hardworking.

I spoke with Andrew Ashton via phone a few times. Once (first time?) was when he called our C2 shop to advise on a policy consideration regarding LA's state forms. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely professional.

Anyone have a direct phone number for Specialist Rob Howard? I have an issue on one of my Form 4s, and I was told he was handling this. Unfortunately his voice mail is full so I can't leave him a message. Or still just best to call the main number and get transferred to him?

Second pretty much everything Tony said. The examiners are great people and I've never called and had a bad experience with them. Tough system they are in.

According to my recent conversation with Silencer Shop, there are no assigned examiners to individual states anymore. That's why you can have different signatures on multiple approved forms filed at the same time.

I interacted with Dana Pickles several times, really nice guy and very helpful. There's also a new examiner named Jillian Grove, I just got back a Form 1 with her name on it. Haven't seen her name anywhere yet.

Been on the phone with Ted Clutter couple times, the term "straight shooter" is the word I'd to describe.

I've never had any bad dealings with anyone at the NFA branch. They've always been nice and helpful. I once needed some 5320.20's approved quickly because of some filming with animal planet the next week and Sara Jones let me email her the forms and I had them back and approved in 10 minutes.

Yeah, looking at NFA tracker Ted is the person to go to if there is some sort of problem and you need to resubmit.

That sucks! I've talked to him several times, he even retuned a few calls. Extremely helpful and you can tell when someone is WILLING to help. I can't comment on anyone else, as I had no dealings with them.

Mr. Pickles, good luck and thank you. If any other teammates are reading this; please, pass it along.

I've dealt with Sandra Snook and her assistant , BOTH highly professional and extremely polite . Which I was
shocked with because I figured if i had to deal with that volume of paperwork and phone calls I would be miserable

Shawn cook was great, but from what I understand he recently left. I'm working with Ted clutter right now to deal with an issue with me getting out of the navy and moving. He responded to my email at almost midnight. There is no question this guy is dedicated to his work. He's good people.

I've only spoke with one examiner, Jason Bowers, when he had a question regarding a E-filed Form 1.

No complaints; professional and courteous.

Their team was extremely helpful in getting my 5320.20 turned around, emailed, and hard copy mailed to my new address when we perma-moved from Virginia in March. Basically I hadn't gotten mine back and was moving the next week, so they approved my scanned/emailed copy, emailed me a scan, and mailed me hard copies to my in-laws address. I can say that the whole thing was fast and professional, and I made sure to tell them that they had certainly shown the entire ATF was not necessarily deserving of the reputation most gun owners hold for their employees. I then said I couldn't say the same about other departments

I filed a Form 1 for a suppressor this morning.  When it was submitted the trust name and street address disappeared, so I "Asked the Experts" immediately to disapprove the application in order to resubmit.  Within 20 minutes I received an email from Gary Schaible asking for authorization to correct the form and for the information to enter.  He was able to do this since Form 1 suppressors usually go straight into a "Pending Research" status.  I replied with the authorization, and within 2 hours the form's status had changed to Submitted/In Process.

All of my dealings with various examiners, technical personnel, and supervisors has been very positive thu far...
