Mate had a UK Sterling made one when they were still legal here

He raved about it & preferred it to the AR15 design

I'd not have any concerns about owning one (IF they were still UK legal...!!)

Start looking for spare parts now. Spares are scarce and expensive. Bolt catches and hammers are the most prone to breakage. The stock hinge isn't a stronge point either. Regardless of these few parts, the widowmaker is an awesome gun. There was a converted AR180 at the last 2 Knob Creek shoots priced at $9k from a dealer in Ohio..

Prone to breakage, have you seen any break?

I have heard the hinge is a weekpoint.

thanks

Nope, but I had a 180B which was nice. An AR-18 would be cooler.

POst in the AR-10/ar-180 subsection. IIRC, there were 2 or 3 owners that had actual full auto and a bunch of ar-180 owners that can at least point you to the right supplier for parts. I had an old costa mesa semi auto back int he day which i loved dearly to death. Being a broke college student at the time, I couldn't afford to keep her so I had to sell her. Dealer had a pre sample full auto, and mentioned it was a smooth shooter but parts were either hit or miss. That was in 2001, I can only imagine parts are only more hit or miss. I'd post up on subguns and sturmgewehr to see if you can get more feedback and guidance.
Best of luck, I still miss that solid folding stock that would beat the living daylights out of anyone.
Oh and numrich has some random parts left in case you need any.

Forgot to add stormwerkz makes a couple accessories including a pic rail for optics for the ar180. It should fit the ar18 flat top but ask him to make sure.

i looked heavily into getting one a few years back when i still had money. in my research i came across someone that did short "conversions" as well - think krink-sized AR-18.

they were fucking sweet!

as far as parts go, you can still pick up an entire spare gun for a reasonable price. i don't know what is different between the semi and select fire guns though, so you may have a few parts that are tough to get. still, in a jamb, any competent machine shop should be able to duplicate the old part that needs replacing out of a spare semi par, i would think.
