THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Does the Form 4 from individual to dealer move faster than normal? Or am I looking at taking possession of the gun next year at this time? The dealer brokering the gun states in his advertisement "We expect 6-8 weeks for atf approval for this type of transfer". So should the gun arrive at my dealers in two months so I can begin the forms on this end? |

It's possible the approval will move faster for a very well known and high-volume dealer, but most small SOTs it takes the same 6 to 7 months. |

I had a feeling that was BS
Guess I'll be picking up my new rifle next year at this time. Will submit a few more forms between now and then to keep my mind off it, only two pending now. |

I just had two Form 4’s approved in just over a month (out of state individual to SOT). I was fully expecting 5-6 months so I was very surprised when they came back so soon. Now I’m starting the 5-6 month wait for the Form 4 transfers to me.
Basically, shorter transfers are possible but don’t get your hopes up because you just never know. |

Sometimes they do. I had one approved to me (SOT) from an out of stater in 2 months.

Sounds like the "broker" dealer was trying to make it sound better then it is. Frank G?

Not surprising. Sorry that he stuck you with something that you didn't know you were getting. I've had a couple of times that his listings have been less then stellar. |

I've had four individual to SOT Form 4s approved in 6 weeks or less in the past year. Two from me to out of state SOTs and two from individuals to my SOT in Florida.

UPDATE:
The form was approved on July 18th and the gun will be at my dealers shop tomorrow! Since my dealer is Lars, I'll be firing it at the NH shoot on September 9th. |

That's amazing.
How did you get a form 4 approved so fast? |

I've had four individual/trust to dealer interstate transfers approved 30 days or less in the past year.
