THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Ive found a couple that I like, but I don't want to jump into a 20,000 dollar investment without talking to some people who know more about it than me. What brands are good? What brands are to be avoided? What do I look for as far as scams go? Should I go through a dealer only? How much is too much? Does anyone know any dealers in Texas that could help me out? I found one for sale. He's not a dealer. The price is well below what I've seen so far ad it seems a bit strange. Is there any way to verify what he has? Thanks in advance. School me all you can guys. Please. |

1) Colt is your best bet. You can get a real M16 for 15-17k or a SP1 conversion for 13k or so
2) Buy from a trusted seller (but you might pay more). If you want to buy from an individual I would ask for referrals and maybe have him take it to a dealer of your choice for inspection. I know people who have flown across the country to view a MG. 3) See 2. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. 4) Unless you buy from someone in-state you will have to use an in-state dealer 5) For a shooter M16 I would look in the 15-16k range 6) Western Firearms maybe |

Thanks. That helps.
Would 15K for an AR be about right? Also I may have a deal in the works. A guy has an H&K S&H sear in a SEF pack. I know absolutely nothing about HK's except te fact that MP5SD's are sexy as hell. If I were to buy the pack from him, how far away am I from a complete gun? How common are host guns, and what are the requirements? I guess my biggest question is I don't understand how you can have a seat pack and move it from host to host and be legal? |

15k for an "AR" sounds a bit high. I would want one marked M16 for that range.
HK host guns are ungodly expensive. 5-8k range. To answer your question, the reason is because the sear itself is the machine gun, so the host firearm is not a machine gun. |

I wish I could even think about buying a full auto m16... Maybe if I sold my car, even then it wouldn't be enough to buy one. :""(

I'm thinking about changing directions here. It doesn't necessarily have to be an actual M16. Converted would be be ok with me. Of the converted AR's what best for a shooter an how much should I be looking to spend?
