Seems like a capricious reason to send it back.
I wonder if the new "examiner assistants" are simply generating lots of error letters as a way to decrease the backlog? |

I'm hoping that BATFE letter at home is a stamp, not an error letter.
We'll see in about six hours. (Form 1 that went pending Jan 24) |

My dealer got an error letter back on my 9mm suppressor last week because he put my name, and "trustee" under the name of my trust. They wanted my name removed. Go figure.

That's ok, I got an error letter today saying my CLEO certification was incomplete. I was fully expecting this, because right after I dropped in the mail box, I remembered that I hadn't written my name in the CLEO certification area. (My former CLEO didn't want anything written in his area, but wouldn't write your name there. So, you had to wait until he returned the form and fill it in yourself. I've gotten into the habit of not writting my name there before giving to the sheriff and simply forgot to write it there before mailing the form.)
So, I get the error letter with a single photocopy of the front page of one of my Form 1's. That's right, a single photocopy of the front page. How the fuck am I supposed to fix the error if you don't send me the forms with the errors, you fucking idiots? So, I get to call Martinsburg tomorrow and ask them to send me the forms, in order to fix them. Had they sent the proper forms, I could have mailed them tonight and they'd have them back Tuesday. With the holiday, they'd probably mail them back the following week, and I'd have my stamp by the end of the second week of July. Now, it's going to take at least another week or two waiting for them to mail the correct forms to me. |

Good grief. Can they think of any more stupid ways to reject forms?
No wonder it takes so damn long to get a stamp, they're sending so many forms back. Mine got kicked back last week because I was missing the Schedule A. At least that's what I was told by my dealer. I hope they were correct. |

So I'm having some difficulty with some forms in error status.
I moved across the country last fall. All of my SBRs are stuck on the other side of the country from me. Last November, I filled out a 5320.20 to permanently move my SBRs. I put all three SBRs on the same form. I received an error letter back, because one of the serial numbers was supposedly incomplete. I did not receive the form back. I printed new forms (individual forms for each of the three SBRs this time), and sent them back. In February, I recieved a call from examiner Chris Farris to verify the serial number on my form. I verified it, and have since heard nothing. I've called her 7 times and left messages with my name, phone number and serial numbers. Only once did she pick up the phone, about 3 weeks ago, and she told me that she would look into it and get back to me. I'm about to lose the storage for my safe in AZ, and I need to get my firearms moved. What can I do, if I can't get any movement from the ATF? |

Couldn't they just remove the pictures themselves, and stand them back with the stamp? |

Put 16+ inch barrels on them, thus removing them from the purview of the NFA until you get things straighted out. Store the lowers in a safe deposit box until you get things straighted out. I assume you have checked the Form 1/4 against the gun and against the 5320.20 and they match. Send a copy of the Form 1/4 with the 5320.20. The error may be in the registry. Send a picture of the serial number if you think that may be the case. Send a cover letter explaining that "time is of the essence." You sent separate 5320.20s, ask her to approve the ones that are not in question and get those out of gun jail. That may reduce the confusion in Martinsburg and reduce the amount of new 16 in uppers you need to buy. |
