Everything was correct with my forms except for the stupid mistake of not printing out my name on one of the copies. Mailed it back in last week should I expect 3 or 4 weeks back to my dealer?

I guess I will be finding out soon. I didn't put the North Carolina specific language "for scientific or experimental purposes as provided under NC General Statute 14-288.8" in box 4i, reason for making (I just put all lawful purposes). I got the error letter/forms on Monday and returned them corrected the same day. So, we will see how long it is.

I think its speeding up for corrections. I got my correction letter on 09JUN12 that was dated 05JUN12. Mailed it out USPS overnight, and when I called on 14JUN12 to see if they had it, i was told it was approved.

I got my stamp back today. I got the letter Monday (dated June 6th), and mailed it back Monday regular mail. It must have gotten there Wednesday, because I just got the stamp in the mail today, and it was dated June 13th.

This is what its looking like for me as well. Went problem status on 6/18/2012, went back to pending status on 6/26/2012 and as of Friday 6/29/2012 still not approved. Unless it got approved yesterday or today, its not getting approved tomorrow and it took the forms about four days to get to my dealer. So even with it getting approved on Monday the earliest I expect to see my stamp is on the 6th or 7th which will be about a 19 day turn around. For some reason I doubt I will see it this weekend.

I just called today to check on a Form 1 I had to return after making a correction. It is still pending as of today, 7/5/2012, and it arrived back at the NFA Branch corrected on 6/21/2012. I was spoiled by the other form I had to correct (same error, NC specific reason for making language), it arrived back at the NFA Branch on 6/13/2012 and was back in my mailbox, approved and stamp affixed, on 6/16/2012.

Well that makes me feel a little bit better, but still frickin sucks. I called to check on my newest stamp, my SilencerCo Sparrow and it went into problem status today, it has a pending date of March 2nd. The stripped lower still is pending and the PSD is still pending the second time. I wonder if since all four of these are my first NFA items and all were sent within a month and a half of eachother, he is wanting to see an updated Schedule A before he signs all of them off. My opinion, 3 weeks for correction turn around time is unsat. Especially when my end was taken care of two weeks ago.

Yours and mine must be in the same pile on his desk.

Just to break your heart a little bit, the lady keeps saying, "They have up to 30 days to finally approve your forms once the correction has been made." I think Mr. Pickles is dropping the ball. He sent my SilencerCo sparrow paperwork back to the dealer to be fixed for stupid reasons along with a bunch of other people's paperwork. Mine was sent back because the suppressor length was wrong. Who the fuck cares about suppressor length? What difference does it make? Obviously if you know its wrong then you know what the right length is, how hard is it to put the correct length in the box? Instead you are going to waste the postage and time sending it to my FFL/SOT?

Yours and mine went into problem status on the same day, June 18th. Mine was because I didn't have the Schedule A with my forms. I found all this out on July 2nd when I called to check the status. My dealer, who is also the attorney that did my trust, told me they got the letter from the ATF and sent the necessary form. I am holding out until Monday the 16th to call back and see where I stand. Hopefully "approved".

I am waiting till Tuesday or Wednesday to give my second correction a chance to get there and get in their system. When everything was backlogged like hell the corrections happened very quickly. Now that they are catching up, the corrections are taking forever.

I thought that NC had passed legislation adding a blanket exemption for registered NFA firearms. Has that not taken effect yet, or was the legislation less beneficial than it seemed to read?

My understanding is that until the NC Attorney General provides an opinion to BATFE on the effect of the new legislation, the NFA Branch is not going to change their requirements for NC residents. That means that NC residents still need to include a statement referencing GS 14-288.8 and machinegun purchases will still require a permit from the sheriff for the time being. I wouldn't hold my breath on the NC AG offering an opinion to BATFE anytime soon.

Mine was approved on the 14th and I got it in the mail on the 18th. Now if I could just find time to take my new SBR to the range...
