So my form 1 was approved on Jan 26th but it never showed up in the mail. I waited a month and submitted a request for a certified copy a few weeks back. I get a wake up call this morning from my examiner saying they can't find it. She called to see if I had made any copies before I sent my form 1 back in August 2011 that they can have and use to assist them in their search. I didn't make a copy before I sent the Original in so she said fill another one out and fax it to her, then mail another completed F1 to her as well.

This couldn't have gone any worse. I don't really know what to think rght now. I'm faxing my form in the morning and sending a hard copy priority mail also. Maybe I can talk her into approving one of my other form 4's to make up for my troubles

I'm thinking you can turn this into a positive. She's going to expedite this one. See if she'll do your other ones like your suggesting. I bet she will.

It's annoying but looks fixable.

The original went to Mexico with the one of many ATF arms shipments.

Roger, I get that. It sucks but I think you can work it out in your favor. It may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for your other forms.

I'm guessing she will be able to help you out and expedite them.

When I had a problem with fingerprints on a Form 1, I told the examiner that I also had a form 4 pending (through another examiner) that was sent in earlier. She said she could link them so that the examiner would use whichever set of fingerprints was accepted by the FBI first, and I wouldn't have to wait on sets to come back for both forms. I would think she could do something similar and run through all of your pending forms at once to save herself some time.

I was busy and couldn't call today but I'll call on Monday. I was trying to figure out how to mention it so I'll do what you said and just let her know while she's working on my stuff I have a few form 4's that are pending with her as well. Not going to get my hopes up, theres a chance she could lose those as well

it happens. they "lost" my Form 4 about 20 years ago aparently. found out when i sent in the form to travel over state lines (cant recall the form #) and i got a note back saying "Serial # xyz not found"

probably should have tried to correct it, but never did. probably too late now.....

Send her a Form 1 for an SBR/SBS/homemade can while you're at it. Just slip it and a $200 check in the envelope with the form that got lost.

Worth a try right?

That it does. But they usually turn it around pretty quickly once they get the forms back.

Stuff like this really makes me worry about the accuracy of the registry. Other than that, I honestly don't think it's a big deal. After the first stamp, the others are just a means to an end.

Wow, it makes me wonder why everyone even uses the ATF. We should all start using a competitive service that offers better turnaround time, fewer errors, more logical rules and regulations, and maybe even a cheaper rate.

Oh yeah, we can't. It's the government. You know, the one by the people, for the people, and all that.

We really should do something about... oh look, shiny!

Good luck with it all. It sounds like they will take care of it quick for you. Stuff like this happens, especially with as many forms as they deal with everyday.

Every form 4 or 1 that I mail out, I make a copy of EVERYTHING I mail to them. A copy of he form 1 or 4, a copy of the certification of compliance, a copy of my money order, and even a copy of the copy of my trust I mailed them. I am OCD, but it would help in a situation like this. Over time, I have found that you can never have too many copies of important documents.

Ok now this is just getting ridiculous, I called today to check to see if they got my Fax and they can't fucking find that either. She said "well you can just wait until I got the copy in the mail". I told her I would fax it again in the mean time.
