I found this New Model 1863 Sharps Carbine .50-70 Conversion  for $400.00 yesterday.

It's a Sharps conversion using the original 6-groove .52 barrel so I don't expect much in the accuracy department though the bore is quite good.

LOL...When Sharps did the conversions if the .52 barrel's bore was good they did not reline it to .50. It was deemed as "good enough".

Very nice condition and excellent price for a piece of history.  If you load a soft lead bullet in front of black powder you might be surprised by the accuracy.  Then again you might not.

Hollow base bullet, paper jacket, dead soft lead: you're money out to 500 yards.

Great purchase on your part. I realize that our firearms should be kept in a safe, but that deserves display in your office or den.

You lucky bastard.....

If nothing happens I'll be shooting it Sunday.

My LGS has some .50-70 (maybe 35 rounds) loaded using Kynoch brass so I'll pick those up, shoot them as is and use the brass to work-up a load.

You're going to reload it with black powder, correct?
