Sorry about the bathroom pics. Good lighting.

The bluing on this is increadable. The stock is also in great shape. The sling looks like it might be original.

I got it for $500 but I'm interested in knowing about what it is worth.

Thanks!

Apparently it is worth $500.00. I would have gave $550.00 if offered.

Seems a little suspect that some parts are nicely blued and some heavily worn.

Pics are bad quality but it appears there are differences in the bluing, and the stock has been refinished.  So, maybe $500. Or less. Or more.  Need quality hi-res pics to actually see what its all about.

You also make no mention of the condition of the bore, cracks in the stock, etc.

Since there is no pics of the whole thing...is it full length? Been cut down? Those are huge factors...

But it does appear refinished, but the acceptance stamp is good, but it won't be top end....

Is that a M1896 rifle in a M1898 stock?

Sling looks period, but is rigged a bit strangely. Is it marked?

No, the serial number is a M1898, FY 1899.

It does look like it has a M1896 rear sight tho.

I agree about the rear sight. Looking at the first pic the OP posted, the receiver sure looks like it reads Model 1896.

Well, its not a cut down, so of course that is a big bonus....

Hard to pin down a value, but Krags have taken a bit of a hit over the last few years, and the crazy prices have dropped a bit...but I would guess, just based on what you can see in the pics, $850 to $950...that is assuming everything is good and proper...the (looks like) original sling helps too...

That's just my SWAG....

ETA I would say, if it is a proper Model 1896 as opposed to an 1898, it would be probably north of $1k....

A Krag-shaped pile of rust is probably worth $500 these days.

The rifle you're showing there is an easy $800+ rifle.

i would say 625 max, a huge hit is the stock is played with. Just for reference i paid around 7 or 8 bills for this krag in 2016

For comparison :

More than what you paid. Stock does look refinished but not sanded. How is the bore?

Graft and Sons has brass 30/40 brass.
