I am cleaning up a VZ24 Brno Mauser for a friend. Im confused what ammo it takes. I see 8mm, 8-57, 8-57js, the import mark says 8-57. Is that a "true" 8mm Mauser?
Thanks
Huck

On Amazon there are two different repo slings, any know which would fit the VZ24? Both slings say they will work but in comments many are not sure if it fits correctly.
Thanks
Huck

If OP can't figure out what caliber his rifle is then he should stick to airsoft.

Unnecessary comment.  Don't make these posts in this forum. -mod

Just stay away from green box Romanian stuff. Never been able to chamber in my or my friends bolt guns in 8mm Mauser.

You can never have to many Mausers around or Mosins or Enfields or any guns really .  I would suggest picking up some of the surplus Yugo M75 sniper ammo for sale if you can.  It is true 8mm Mauser ammo and in overall super nice condition.  It is priced at about 50 cents a round it also comes in a really cool crate .  I do miss the days of cheap 8mm surplus though .

ETA:  sniper ammo here

Yes its 8mm mauser, or 8x57.  Some also call it 7.92mm

It is specifically 8X57 JS.  There was the 8X57s round for the earlier commission rifle.  Not common at all.

I have fired a bunch of Yugo 198gr 8mm ball from my VZ24s. 8x57JS was the modern high power cartridge IIRC. All WWII and later milsurp 8mm is JS.
