Looking to rebarrel my small ring Mauser into .308 but having trouble locating a source. Anyone have a lead? I will be hand loading ammo for the most part, so not worries about the "weaker" action.

I bought this barrel a while back thinking that I would try to turn one of my Turk Mausers into a .308 but it turned out that it would not work with the Turk receiver. I do not know if it is small ring or not. It mikes to .98 at the chamber area where the serial number is and 1.11 at the ring between the chamber and the threads. Is this what you are looking for?







With a round of Port surplus in the chamber. The bore is bright and shiny. Looks almost new on the inside.

What do you mean by "small ring Mauser"?  Do you mean a small ring Mauser 98 action?  You don't have to worry about strength with those.  Or do you mean one of the older actions (1889, 93, 95, etc.)?

It is a 95 action Spanish Mauser. From what I've read it can probably take the pressure, however I was planning on downloading some to reduce pressure to be safe. I'm contemplating throwing this idea out, picking up a 98 action in the future for the same project, and rebarreling this one to 6.5x55 or a new 7mm barrel (the barrel needs replacing either way).
