Hey guys, my m91 has an S stamped on the barrel shank just forward of the receiver. What does it mean?

The "S" means it was accepted for use by the Finnish Civil Guard. Lot's of interesting history on them on the web.

I thought about that but the stamp is missing the marks on either side of the S.

It does have a set of x out numbers on the receiver,maybe a guard gun returned to the army?

Look under the butt plate. Sometimes the stock was stamped with the CG number there.

I'm going to disassemble it tomorrow and  take more pictures. I'll look for numbers under the plate.
