Picked up a numbers matching 1950 Tula SKS in great condition. It is a refurb, based on the dark bolt. Out the door was $460. I'm seeing $500+ on gun broker. I think it's a fair price considering the meteoric price rise on these items. It'll fit nicely between my Tula mosins and AKs.

Sounds like you did well.  That would be $550 all day long at the local gun shops near me.

This, have never come across a 1950.  Be cautious with corrosive ammo, I think 1951 was the 1st year that the barrels were chrome-lined.

regardless of the barrel, you still have to mind the gas system.

I stockpile, but never shoot corrosive in guns with gas systems. Shouldn't be an issue. I'm aware that chrome lining didn't take place until late 1951. Just another reason not to shoot corrosive.

Well glad I did well.

soap water = no worries about corrosive ammo. But at the price point non corrosive makes more sense any way with regards to 7.62x39

During refurb, the barrels were usually replaced with a chrome-lined barrel.

Personally, I have never seen a Soviet SKS with a non-chrome-lined barrel.

1949/1950 dated ones should have the spring-loaded firing pin as well.

Hopefully I get a springed pin and chrome lined. Best of both worlds. Should arrive Thursday.

I have a 1950 Tula refurb.  Barrel is still steel no chrome, firing pin is still Siminov designed with spring return.
