Found one locally for $950.  Matching serial numbers, 75% blueing/enamel left, stock shows quite a bit of wear, no import mark, and the bore is in nice condition considering the age.

Not that many available these days, and when I see them they usually go north of $1000.

Do I jump?

Offer $800. I always wanted one in that cal. My two 8 mm never ran 100%.

I would.

Sounds like a good acquisition, I always seem to run into the shoddy century assembled 8mm Egyptian parts guns when prices are anywhere close to reasonable

I agree with Sajer, offer $800 and see where it goes. Or you can wait for the prices to go down when FN starts making them again.

Offer $800 and see if they bite. If not, $950's not horrible since there aren't many around.

I don't know which .30-06 contract you are thinking of buying....It matters as to price.

A pristine Luxembourg contract example went for $1900.00 that my LGS put up on one of the auction sites several months back.

I can't say if that was the true market value because a couple of guys got into a bidding war over it. I suspect it was something less than that but it was great example, easily 98% and far fewer (6K)  made.

I understand the .30-06 Belgian contract examples (88K made) don't bring near as much as the .30-06 Luxembourg contract rifles. $700-$900 tops for those it seems.

Luxembourg contract....Haggle a little bit then Jump.

Belgian contract...Haggle hard and walk if the price is not lowered at least $100.00.

Not a bad price.

Always haggle out of principle.  I didn't pay sticker price at my old FFL for ten years.

Go for it, offer $800 and see where you can go.  I do miss my Venni 7x57 SAFN.

There was a Luxembourg contract FN49 on GB last week that went for $820.

I had to resist the temptation.  We are now moving from Virginia to Colorado on Saturday for my wife's new ob.

It was definitely a Luxembourg contract rifle and it ended up selling for $750.  Would have been a great buy but I just couldn't swing it right now.
