How can you tell it was a pu sniper?

It does have the scope on it

nothing on that single shot tells me its was or is a PU sniper going by the markings. Who was the importer?

Not sure of the importer. I just got it a few days ago. So far I only Gave it a good cleaning and got most of the copper out of the bore.

Importers marks/engravings will be on the receiver. Older imports may have the importers markings on the barrel, sometimes under the muzzle.

See the old scope # stamped on left side of bbl.

KX is also a well known 1944 PU sniper prefix.

If you open the bolt and look at side rail you should see plugged scope base holes.

That is a cool piece of information!

OP - can you check for plugged scope base holes?

This rifle has the pu scope and mount on it. The crude adjustments on the mount are staked.

Under the muzzle is some stamps but can't read them real well

^ You know your stuff.  I would not have recognized that as an ex-sniper, but I believe you are correct.
