I am looking for input and advice as to what the P14 Eddystone Enfield is selling for these days. I recently saw one at my LGS in what appears to be very good condition (to my less than trained eye). Stock looked like it could be original and with two stampings on one side in the wrist area. Metal looked very good with the receiver looking excellent and marked "Eddystone".

Asking price is $700.

Is this an appropriate price for a rifle like this? Ive been looking to add some nice milsurp rifles and really start to build on a little collection whick currently consists only of a Webley .455 revolver and a refurbed Tula '54 SKS.  The P14 is not specifically something I was looking for but after seeing it and shouldering it in the shop it just felt so damned good.

Any advice and guidance is appreciated.

P14s seem to be running $400-$500, from what I've seen.  So $700 is fairly high.  I picked up my Eddystone P14 last year for ~$300, which was a bit lower than market value.

Too high.  I would say $500 is on the high end if it hasn't been messed with .

I paid 425 for a really nice one recently.  Keep looking.

Thanks for the quick replies! Glad I held off and sought some opinions.

I would pay $700 for an all matching, good condition one.

Sadly, not a lot of them around.

Non matching shooters are $400-550.

I just reread your OP, and noticed that you stated "the receiver is marked Eddystone".  If so, are you sure it was a P14?

The reason I'm asking is that the receivers on Eddystone P14 rifles were not marked "Eddystone".  Instead, they were marked "ERA".

The receivers on Eddystone M1917s, on the other hand, were marked "Eddystone".

If it turns out to be a M1917, $700 isn't out of line for a good condition one.  The US M1917s in .30-06 are more popular than the British P14s in .303, and command higher prices.

The rifle I looked at was marked with the full word "Eddystone." So perhaps its an M1917 and not a P14?  Homestly- i did not check the caliber and assumed it was .30-06.  It appears I have a lot to learn!

Edit- to clarify, yes- it was marked exactly as the 2nd photo.

Would the P14 in .303 take Enfield No 1 mk 3 clips, or did it take a different pattern? I would love to have a 14 or 17 if the price was right.

The P14 uses standard No. 1 Mk. III SMLE chargers.

The M1917 uses standard M1903 stripper clips, although it actually holds 6 rounds of .30-06, while the M1903 and the stripper clips only hold 5.

Thanks. I figured that would be the case.
