Sorry, no pictures.  Friend of mine has inherited some guns.  Said he found this broomhandle Mauser hanging on a barn wall.  I'm fairly sure it's a repro, but can't find any pictures like it.  I've only seen a picture of the left side.  The distinctive thing is, it has MAUSER (straight text, all caps, I'm guessing close to 1/4" tall, and spaced out like M A U S E R) in what looked like raised lettering above the grip, which would suggest a cast frame.  It also looked like it had the remnants of black lacquer on it, kind of like on the Indian Enfields.  I thought it might be a non-firing replica, but he says it has ammo in the mag.  Wood grips, rusty lanyard ring.  That's about all I got from the pic.  He's supposed to send me the picture plus more pics soon.

Does the raised plain lettering ring a bell for anyone?

Chinese copy, maybe? They loved the heck out of the Broomhandle (and called it the Box Cannon) and made about a bazillion copies.

Update: Owner did some research on his own and it is a Hudson non-firing replica.

Aw dayum. Disappointing eh. I'd love one in my collection, just never seen one in person yet.
