What is your favorite surplus pistol and why? Also is it available now as surplus or is it a hard to find.

I'm wanting to pick up one for myself, just not sure which. I have say the Nagant looks interesting with its gas lock system, but....sucks you can't 100% replicate it for reloading. Looks like something I would get if I find it at a really cheap price. Otherwise, I'd like something I wouldn't mind taking out with me as my PC on occasion.

My Inglis BHP. It's an integral part of my British Commonwealth firearm collection and it's an amazing shooter. Not so easy to find these days, though, I'm afraid.

Polish Radom or BHP.

My dual date 1918/20 P.08 Luger. Recoil spring is unaltered and it shoots Fiocchi 124gr like a dream.

P.08s are not hard to find, just hard to find with a sane price, as there is so much BS about "black widows" and "the friend of a friend claimed his father in law got this from an SS general!" people think the most shot out commercial luger is worth thousands.

Next would be my Romanian TTC (tt-33 clone), light recoil, superbly accurate and the ammo isn't horribly priced.

sorry for the super crappy cell phone pics I cant get good lighting in my house. I have to turn the exposure setting up really high and this is the result

For practical purposes, the Hi-Power.
For coolness, C96 with holster stock.
Get both.

1930 Model Broomhandle,

However, for something currently available I'd have to go with a Highpower.

Right now the only one I have is a tt33.I shot it a few times and likes it so much I ordered a set of case forming dies  that are $50 more then I paid for the pistol.

I am thinking about wording a star model B real soon

wow really nice ones guys. My 'wish list' is

Luger (need to learn more about what to look for, I just want one actual wartime use and as matching as possible and not worn to hell)

p38 - I see there appear to be two versions, I like the one that's all black, the other looks unfinished

broomhandle - always thought that would be a cool collector.

likely the p38 is the most likely in any nearterm future.

What are these hi-powers everyone seems to suggest, (I.e. LINKS please to in stock :-) )

funny no nagants mentioned.

Nagants are fine when they were 100-125.. but at the price they are now.. its hard to give a recommendation. Unless you find one that is unrefurbished; its not my first choice to take to the range.

What parent case do you make 7.62x25 Tokarev out of?

You do know that Starline makes new 7.62x25 brass, right?  It isn't exactly cheap, but I've always found Starline to make a quality product.

S&B has made it for quite a while.  Not as cheap as 9mm, but not usually as expensive as something like .44 Mag either.

The 223 family of cartridges.. the formings dies are about $250.  I have what looks like an unlimited supply of 5.56 brass. I wouk at a fire sration fot at leaxt 48 hours stright. my reloading set up is very easy to move. So I can work on them during the down time and the brass wil be almost free. And  I am hoping I may be able to sell some brass, if I can do all this I can recoup  some of the money for the forming dies
Starline is the only company I know of that makes brass for the reloader, I think all the factory rounds are imported . If something happens to the brass I will be able to still shoot  my beloved pistols  this is a suprising little round with a lotof power. I am thinking about getting a custim contender barrel made for it.

All my .223 brass is either going to be reloaded as .223 or .300 BLK.  I bought dies for 7.62x25 Tok, but primarily so that I can load some hollowpoints, as all the commercial and milspec ammo seems to be FMJ.  If I ever want to CHL a Tokarev, I'd feel more comfortable with some good JHPs.

I like my M57. I just wish the cheap surplus ammo hadn't dried up.
