I watched that whole video. What a pos. Yes, probably not the best rifle for North African nor Russia but from a collectors point it is quite the find.

Oh no doubt about It I would love to have one, but as a battle rifle it leaves a lot to be desired. More of a product of bad requirements. No gas port is silly. |

It was discovered to be less than optimal under field conditions, since the gas trap itself was fragile and prone to carbon buildup, so the design was altered to use a gas port after the first 50,000 or so Garands were produced. Most of the gas trap rifles were then converted to gas port rifles.
