Glad I got one when I did.  I picked one up last year from Midway on clearance for $35.

Quit w/ the Swiss stuff.  You've already cost me money w/ the antique.  Knock it off.  Unless - you have a scope mount...?

I do not consider that price to be out of hand for a nice piece of Swiss metalwork, especially in that condition. I have a couple of K31's in good enough shape to wear one of those.

Agreed, they've been around that price for quite a few years.  Maybe not select grade ones but in general.

Eh, what the hell, I was going to order a couple of boxes of Prvi 9mm, so I added a bayo while I was at it. It'll look nice on my K11.

Got mine today. It's in great shape, but not unissued, as it has been serialed.

It's a 1950 or later Victorinox (Elsener Schwyr Victoria).

I'll see what I can do tomorrow. All I have now is crap interior lighting. Not going to get good pictures with that.

Mine arrived today. Waffenfabrik Neuhausen.

Here it is on my favorite K31. A $89 walnut stocked AIM special from several years ago.

Diffidently?

Yah. I would be running out for lottery tickets if it had matched one of my 7 K31's.

At least I have a excellent condition example now for my collection.

Luckily I got a matching numbers bayo when I got my K31 a few years back.  I bought the Schmidt rifle not too long ago, but I don't think I need a bayo for it.

They seem to be damn fine pieces of steel.

Those look like some beautiful pieces of steel.  Wish I hadn't waited to order one  Oh well...I felt bad, so I picked up another rifle instead.  My Schmidt-Rubin 1911 long rifle should be here next week.

Midway has 1889 and 1918 ( K31 bayo like pics above ) clearance for $45.

VERYGOOD deal for 1889 bayo which would be more correct for 1889 / 1911 and 96/11 SR's

Is it common for the maker's mark to be worn off on a select grade bayonet? I picked up a Elsener Schwyr Victoria from AIM and the mark is about 50% worn off.

So is the 1918 model the K31 bayonet, and the 1889 model is the 1911 & earlier models bayonet?

Kinda. The 1918 was, as you might guess, originally introduced for use on the K11, but it was carried over to be used on the K31 as well. The 1918 bayonet is really the "Karabiner" (carbine) bayonet, and the 1889 is the "Gewehr" (rifle) bayonet.

Ok, got it.  Thank you for the clarification.  My 1911 Gewehr should be arriving any day now to keep my K31 and K11 company.  Looks like now I need bayonets.

I was told faded maker's marks are not uncommon and their select grades were simply bayonets in overall much better condition than the previous ones.

Can anyone else comment on the condition of the maker's marks on theirs?

Mine are pretty darn clear, but I suppose broken stamps/poorly struck markings do happen.

Thanks!!  Ordered some to complete some of my rifles.  Two 1889's bayonets (one for my 96/11 and 1911) and a 1918 to go on a future K11 I hope to add at some point.

These Swiss are addicting  Started with just one K31 but once you have one in Beech you have to have one in Walnut...right?  Now they've multiplied into a family of them

Received my first set a 89 and a 18, got two more 89's coming.

The 1918 is pretty nice ( serial 233959 ), not minty but very nice. The 89 has some rust stains on pommel end but not bad, scabbard a bit more rough but it is atleast 100yrs old blade is very nice and ding free. serial is 222802 pretty close to one of my 96/11's serial 2224xx.
