THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Anyone purchase one of the 1903A3 rifles that AIM has on their web site?

I've always wanted an 03A3 and it seem they are about the only ones that carry them. Are these a good deal?

I'm looking for an accurate shooter more than a collectors item. Not sure if I could find one at a decent price anywhere else.

these originally had a plugged barrel, and welded cut off, and were drill guns

the plugged barrels were removed, the weld on the cut off was removed and a new cut off and barrel installed.

we have two different offerings, James river and Rock Ridge

the Rock Ridge uses a New Green Mountain barrel

the James River uses a unissued original barrel (like the ones we used to sell)

both are really nice, we have sold about 3-400 of these guns between these two offerings and the 1903A4, with no problems (except the first 1903A4 scopes)

here is a review on the 1903a4 (rock ridge builds those also)

I too am primarily a shooter rather than a collector. I DO have a fairly large "collection"..Garands,Mosins, Mausers,Enfields, a Thompson and even an OOW semi BAR but my AIM 1903A3s are my favorite rifles. I bought one last summer and liked it so much that I bought two more. All three are straight stocked with new barrels dated 12 of 43. They are very accurate and I have no complaints regarding build quality. It just tickles me to have an old and distinguished veteran like the 03a3 in such beautiful condition.

I keep watching AIM's site because I see that there are "reactivated" 1903 Springfields and "1942 USMC sniper rifles"( a c stocked reactivated 03 with a reproduction 8x Unertl scope) coming on the market. The Mastercard is gonna take a beating.

That's pretty cool...

I just had Iron Sight Inc. mount one of those Leatherwood reproduction scopes on my M1903. Very neat setup.

Usafwolfe: if you search, there are a couple of Youtube videos of guys unboxing their AIM Surplus 03A3s...that will give you the bug for sure!

Screwball: That is a beautiful set-up...bet that draws a crowd at the range!

I have decided to order essentially the same rig (only with a reactivated 03) about 10 times but always get hung up on the math. The retailer that has them is getting $950 for a reactivated 03 Springfield with a new Criterion barrel...a little high but I am willing to pay extra for that new barrel. Now add one of those Unertl replica scopes ( manufacturers suggested retail of $549) and the price jumps to $2200! I'll allow there is some labor to mount the scope but something doesn't add up. I suppose it's just a matter of if you want it bad enough you are gonna pay it.
I am hoping that if AIM gets them in, they will a little better on pricing.

When I had the work done (few weeks back), the scope was $549. I sent a check to Iron Sight Inc. for $950, which included the scope, modifications to the rifle (bolt handle, wood, and actual mounting), bore sighting the scope at 100 yards, and return shipping ($30). Work was top notch, and the rifle does not look like it was modified after coming back from DGR.

If you can get a good host M1903, it is cheaper to go that route.
