Also, with as high as it would have to sit, you'd have a terrible chin-weld.

Sorry I am not a purist but I disagree as well. You better go ask this in the optics section. I would lay of the Nutnfancy videos as well.

I traded a piece of unnamed military equipment for a 43 tula with one of those nasty rear-sight replacement rails and a cheap scout scope. I'm sure I saved the rifle from further bubbaizing, now I just need to get around to getting the rear sight parts and undoing the damage.

You should work a trade with the OP.

It would seem so. Still got to get around to spending 12 bucks. I'm also toying with the idea of using this rifle as the receiver for my uk59 barrel
you know, because I'm still not a fan of bubba work, unless it's done by me in a long, slow, painful learning process. |

Ignore the Luddites. Might put a lower rail up front so you can add a Grippod or an AFG : )

This is ARFCOM, right? Surely we're supposed to have AFGs on everything, including $80 Mosins? Or is it flashlights, I get confused. If your flashlight cost more than the rifle, is that Tier 1? ; ) Now that I think about it, I might be able to mount my 9V on the drilled & tapped Remington...

Just get a scope mount that replaces the rear sight (so you can return it to original condition in the future) and grab a cheap micro red-dot from primary arms.

Ultra dot is the best for the money.

A few questions.
Why do you want a red dot? It is more of a close in sight. Not all that great for long distance shooting. So if you intend to use the rifle primarily for long distance shooting, which I define here as 200+ yards, you may want a scope. If most of our shooting is in the 50 to 100 yard range, a red dot is fine. From 100 to 200 yards, go with whatever you want. As mentioned above cheek weld will not be normal. The higher it sits, the worse it will become. |
