mailed 1/26
charged 1/30

Called a couple days ago and they it was received or filed or something like that on 2/10, I just remember it wasn't denied.

Then they told me 30-60 days from 2/10....is this normal?

Yeah, but not sure how much of it related to the fact that they seemed to sit on the payment a little longer. Either way, it came two weeks earlier than I expected once the credit card charge hit.

What's the deal with item 11 on the Form 7CR?

11d Been an Employee of a Federal Firearms Licensee

In the fine print, it says "A 'Yes' answer to items #11, #12 and #13 could disqualify a person for a license.

So in a previous live I worked the sporting goods counter at Wal-Mart, and I sold firearms in Virginia. So I am assuming I do have to say Yes for 11d, so will that disqualify me from getting a C&R? Or am I just being paranoid? Is that more so if you're the guy from Red Jacket you can't get a C&R?

Also, I didn't get a copy of the compliance form with my packet, and it seems to be that I don't need one, the instructions say one is necessary for each additional person listed on the application. I think I'm going to send them one anyway to be safe.

But mostly I'm more concerned about how saying that I worked for an FFL previously could disqualify me... I don't understand that part.

Talked to the BATFE today and got part of an answer...

Yes, selling guns at the sporting goods counter at Wal-Mart counts. (given that Wal-Mart is a corporate licensee, I wonder if the same would apply for someone who worked in the Wal-Mart electronics dept?)

However, the guy I spoke to couldn't explain why being a former employee for a FFL could disqualify you from a C&R or other FFL yourself. So I just marked the box Yes, added the explanation letter to the application and dropped it into the mail. So now to see how long it takes until A: I get a C&R in the mail, or B: the black helicopters come to my house

Just thinking about a C&R for fun...but do you live within the limits of a town or city? As an example, I live in an unicorporated area of a county. The county sheriff would, therefor, be my CLEO. If I lived within the town limits, the city police chief would be my CLEO. It depends who has jurisdiction over your address. Who responds when there is a crime-related call for you?

In Pennsylvania, the County District Attorney is the CLEO. go figure...

I'm guessing the concern is that you'd be splitting off from your former business, opening your own business and somehow trying to operate under a C&R. Not that it would make any sense since it is still illegal to operate a business under a C&R, but perhaps someone who has been in the business before is more likely to try that.

Getting my form mailed back. Apparently I forgot to enter my social security number in #9....

So it took them 1 day to verify my credit card number but over a month to look at anything else.

DAMNIT.

Question... Do you have to have a Hunting license to get a C&R license? I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter but wanted to make sure first... The form asks, "Are you in possession of a valid hunting license or permit lawfully issued in the United States?" "If you answered NO, you likely cannot lawfully possess a firearm and therefore cannot be a federal firearms licensee."

Unusual. Seems like the first thing they do is tear it open and charge your card.
