Good enough without killing the bank.  Rings also.  Want is a good combo.  Tia wd.

My 25 year old 10/22 has sported a $30 4x simmons scope and ring combo since birth. For varmints, it has been deadly. For targets and plinking, it has also been fantastic. JUST ordered an upgrade for it, because great deal on Burris Quest Predator 2-7x. But you wouldn't go wrong with that simmons!

my STC 10/22 ran a Tasco World Class AO 6-24x44 with 1/8min clicks and 1/8min cross hair dot with Burris Zee rings....they have a similar rated scope today, but not sure of the reticle....., but you might look for one of the older scopes on the used market

I have a Mueller 8-32x44 Target on mine. The target dot reticle is very nice. Cost $240 to $280 depending on where you get it and has a lifetime warranty.

Without killing the bank account a Nikon, Burris, Vortex Crossfire II or Mueller are solid choices.

Nothing wrong with that Leupold. My personal preference would be for a scope with a larger objective lens for better sight picture in low light. Check out Nikon and Vortex. maybe even a different Leupold. Have Fun!

I have a Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 on mine. Got it for $150 at Dunhams. Its nice. Cant go over 4x indoors. Its not the rimfire version though.

Anything wrong with considering a fixed power?  Like 4x.  ?  Never realized picking a damn scope would be like this.

You really want something with an adjustable objective to fix scope parallax.

You don't want a scope with a fixed 100 yard parallax.

Guys thanks for all the reply's. Everyone of them. I'm not a scope knowledgeable person on the in's and outs . I had to watch a YouTube video on parallax to try to understand  what yall a re talking about. Im building this for my sons 17th birthday . Getting him something I wished I had at his age. I also has still never bought me one. I got him a Ruger 10/22 target SS  . It will be here Monday . I thought getting the scope would be the easy part.  I guess I'm trying not to spend to much.. with out regretting on spending to less. This is for him.. Not me. the search continues  Thanks again . I have that $50ish dollar Wally World special made by Crosman and I slapped it on my 10/22 Target but then I had a chance to pick up a new Diamondback Vortex Rimfire for 50% off MSRP so I fent HAM. I haven't shot it yet as it just arrived yesterday, but the glass is stupid clear on the Vortex. I'm blown away by the clarity. I think I'm just going to stick to Vortex scopes for everything, I can get awesome pricing on them and they have a lifetime warranty.

Gander mountain has the BSA "sweet 22" scope on sale for $50. Its the 3-9 version.

I have a fixed 4x on my 10-22. I wasn't going to spend a fortune on a 22 scope. I picked on up on a whim. Pretty happy with it. It's bare bones in features but the glass isn't bad. It's held a zero through cases and cases of ammo. The gun gets beat up pretty good between my and my 11yo throwing it around. The scope has been on the gun for 10years now.

The Weaver 2x7 rimfire is a good scope, that's what I put on my recently rebuilt 10-22.

This is what I have on mine and it's been there for years.  I would have to go check and see if it's held it's zero, because it's been a hot minute since I shot that rifle.

Looks like I just made plans for this weekend!

I had some Cabelas bucks and wanted to put a scope on my old Marlin 990. Cabelas has the Vortex Crossfire II 4-12 40AO on sale for $120.00 so I grabbed one. For the money I've been very impressed with it. I was playing with it last week at the range using the AO from 10 to 50 yards and it was spot on. The it has a good eyebox, the glass is clear and bright from x4 to about x10 then it gets a little fuzzy but for $120.00 I'm very happy. I even bought a second one.

On the cheap side UTG bug buster has lots of positive reviews. Otherwise vortex or a primary arms would be on the list along with Nikon.  Unless this is an actual target gun or something for shtf, those would all be reasonable priced and decent.

I have this on my 10/22 takedown. I really like how compact it is and the ACSS reticle is great for plinking.

It really depends on the distance you are shooting. I shoot squirrels off a wood pile at 40 yards with my 22 bolt action. A rim fire scope with a parallax set at 50 yds is perfect for between the eye shots. If I wanted to primarily shoot groups on paper at 100 yds, many other scopes with a 100 yard set parallax would be an option.

For my center fire target rifles an adjustable objective is a must. For my big game hunting rifles, I would never consider an adjustable objective because KISS applies.

I have two 10/22  equipped with Primary Arms fixed 6x ACSS reticle for 22 rimfires.  Zero at 50 yards and it seems the 200 yd BDC is dead on.

The 2x7s are ok on a regular 10/22.   However, on a target model, I prefer a lot more magnification.   I prefer the 8x32.

I shoot at 24x18 silhouette plates at 200 yds.  Using the Primary Arms ACSS 22lr 6x scope I can reliably hit the target with bulk Remington and Browning 40 gr round nose by using the 200 yd built in BDC.

My 10/22s both wear red dots, but I have the leupold on my American rimfire and love it.  Get yourself a dnz game reaper mount and you are good to go.

I have four or five with inexpensive Tascos, Simmons, etc. An air rifle scope is good because you can focus up close.

I bought one for my Ruger American Rimfire and liked it so much I bought another for a 10/22 LITE.

Plain ol' duplex reticle.  Perfect for punching paper.

NICE. I broke down and got the leupold VX 2  3x9x 40  . I got a DNZ game reaper one piece mount/ring combo for it. Harris BRM ( S )  bipod  for it.   Volquartsen extractor and recoil buffer poly pin . I haven't put any of this together yet. My son going to get to put it together.    He has been sick .Cheers Wardawg
