Some years back somebody was selling bulk boxes of Federal XM193 that was something like 1/2 price if I remember correctly . I bought one box to try and it looked pretty nasty. Dents and dings galore. It kind of scared me and I didn't test it for quite a while.

At some point I realised I had about 7 or 8 different lots of XM193 and I decided to grab a couple of boxes of each and 3 or 4 ARs and chrono all of them and also shoot some groups off a rest as I was running the chrono.

As I was grabbing up the ammo from my mini fort I grabbed a good handfull of the bulk seconds just for a lark expecting it to shoot worse than any of the regular boxed lots.

Velocity of all the ammo was pretty much in the same range and none of it was really horrible for accuracy but there were some lots that stood out and shot much better groups. Big surprise was the ugly bulk packed cheap stuff was the best lot by quite a bit. I pulled maybe 3 or 4 rounds out of each hundred that had messed up necks and extreme twisted bullets and didn't include them in the tezt group. Wish I had shot it right away and bought up a big pile of the stuff.

Bottom line is you never know untill you try it

I saw those CCI seconds listed on Ammoseek as well in a couple different types of rounds. And have been wondering the same thing.
Please post what you find.
