My S&W 15-22 will not register all the shots on the timer at the steel match. Not even when the RO holds the timer close to the ejection port. I run Federal Auto Match ammo for its exceptional reliability, but is is quiet in the rifle. It is discouraged for the RO's to play with the sensitivity of the timers because if they don't change them back on the next shooter they will pick up shots from other bays or the slide closing on semi auto pistols. I am thinking a muzzle brake may work to send some of the muzzle blast back to the timer. Any ideas to make my rifle make a louder sound?

Yes, a side-port brake should help. The RO still needs to orient the timer's SENSOR towards the muzzle or ejection port, and he needs to WATCH the timer display as you fire your last shots to visually confirm that he is picking up your shots. This is good practice for all shot timer use, but especially critical for rimfire and pistol caliber carbines. I produced a poster to hang at our club explaining the correct method - email me if you want a copy.

Have the RO hold the timer by the ejection port such that the ejected casings hit the timer.

That's what I do.

9 month + wate on them too

Comp or SBR

Wonder if you got a timer set up to work if they would use it when you shoot?

They are using multiple timers anyway.

Better than everyone on one timer, that the settings keep getting screwed with.

May not be much more than a big loud (ish)comp.
