I looked at their website and didnt see any. I thought I heard something one time about a factory heavy barrel version. What's the deal?

The 8334 does look like it has a heavier bbl on their website, but the numbers on the spec sheet dont seem to support that.

The spec sheet for the 8305 says it weights 5.5 lbs.

The 8334 is 5.3lbs.

Yes the #8334 is a heavier barrel, I once read it was around 0.75" at muzzle vs around 0.5" on the standard barrel. I have one and love it! VERY impressed for the $295 price I got it for!

I'm not sure if the #8334 has a heavier barrel or not i haven't compared it side by side with the others.

But in my opinion it would be tough to buy any better for the money.
Most of my guns have a woman's name ...... we just call this one "the smile maker" because everyone who shoots it can't help but smile.
Thats 5 shots the day we zeroed it.

How do I contact ruger and tell them to make a real heavy bbl version? I think it'd be nice if the forearm was modular with a round insert, and a wide flat insert for the bench. The damn thread protector should be longer to act as a crown protector too. Ruger if you're reading this feel free to steal my ideas.

Something like these Savages.

What ammo were you using? I didnt end up with the 8334, but just the normal barrel. I shot it today and was getting 3/4" 5 shot groups at 50yds with CCI standard velocity.

A couple people over on RFC have had smith's put heavy barrels on their RARs. One used a Cz 455 barrel, the other used a 10/22 target barrel.

I don't know how the Cz barrel performed but the target barrel showed some promise.

I shot my RAR Predator model today, and while a new barrel might look cool, I can't imagine getting any better performance. with Eley match I was dropping 5 shots into one ragged hole at 35 yards.

They are out there. This one is HEAVILY modified.  Basically the only thing original is the action, bolt and barrel.

There are threaded versions of the regular model, and the heavy barrel Predator is threaded. I went with the #8334 Predator myself, it's sweet!
