What's the current value on a mint condition Remington 541-S custom sportster 22 lr rifle with a Leupold scope? Friend has one I want to buy, I hear they are great little shooters and pretty collectible.

They are excellent shooters.I had one years ago, wish i had kept it

In mint condition with the scope $900-1200 on gunbroker, and the price leans more towards the higher end of that price range

Be aware that the 5 round mags are expensive, and the 10 round mags are pretty much junk

Thanks, picked up the gun yesterday it's a beauty.  Has a Leupold Vari-X II 2x7 scope.  The gun is surprisingly heavy and seems very well built.  Glad to hear the values are pretty strong, looks like there are some as high as 1,500 on the market although unsold.  It came with two 5 round magazines.

You have to look at completed sales on GB to get an idea of actual worth.  Any seller can ask for an excessive price on GB, but it means nothing if it doesn't sell.

The 5 round magazines are better than the 10 round magazines, but both have a tendency to come apart at the seams,  When they start to do that they'll puke the rounds out.  Re-gluing them works fine, but I wish Remington had made a metal magazine for them.

They are decently made and adult sized.  They make nice .22 LR sporters and are fairly accurate.  A 2-7x33 Leopold is a good choice for one and is nicely proportioned for the rifle.

Same as mine, including the Vari-X  II 2-7x scope.  You will love the way it shoots.  The trigger is match grade.  Mine will never be sold during my lifetime.  Only have one 5 round mag, though.

How long ago did you buy it, is it a S or a T?

I agree.  I love the metal CZ mags, but their polymer ones are still rock solid reliable and touch as nails.

Both my CZ 453 American (right) and my CZ 453 Varmint (left) also outshoot my 541-S as well as my re-issue Model 52 Sporters (below).
