He likes it at the short range (i.e. pistol), He wants a scope on it for the longer range (50 yds.). I'm thinking the irons would be fine out to 25 yards, but where we went to shoot was either 30 ft or 50 yds. I have a Simmons 22 Mag scope on order. After an 11% off code and a $30 rebate it will cost me a whopping $15 bucks so I figured we'd give it a try.

I actually prefer them over the standard version. I just wish they were more prevalent. Ruger must make them in small batches. |

I strongly suggest you find some lower rings so that you can mount the scope lower and closer to the bore of the rifle. That way your son will be able to get a good cheek weld on the stock and keeping his head properly aligned with the scope. |
