I was walking by the gun counter and saw cz455 varmint and immediately fingered it:). Long story short I bought her. Now where do go with the build...

If I could only keep 1 rifle in 22 LR and 1 in 17 HMR they would both be my CZs, and without hesitation.

I think the most common and agreed upon upgrade is a Yo Dave trigger kit. They are amazing.

Congrats and best of luck with your CZ! What caliber did you get?

I have yet to try a 455, I bought two 16 inch threaded 452 Americans before they were discontinued.

Just got a 455 tacticool; only put a bipod, base, rings, and scope on it so far, but if I do nothing more I'm happy with it.
I'd like to find a metal magwell in stock somewhere. Trigger is not bad out of the box, so I'm going to shoot it a bit before changing anthing.

I went with a SWFA SS 3-15x42 on Burris 30MM XTR medium rings, and the DIP 25MOA base.
All of it overkill for this application? Also have a Tactical Innovations Quest suppressor.

The rings are tall for the size of the objective but it's a pretty good height for the eyepiece with that stock. Could probably have gotten away with a lower ring (especially with the additional base on there).

I would recommend a thinner ring however, as I would have moved the scope forward a tad more if I could have. For that reason I got the extended base too if you're going to switch to a picatinny rail vs the 11mm (I did because I also wanted to run a thermal scope on this).

Nikon makes an inexpensive 22lr scope with BDC I was looking at, but I already had this one waiting for a host. Congrats on the purchase; look forward to seeing what you end up with.

I have a mueller apt on my fvsr. It's ok I just don't like the mushy feeling on the turrets on cheaper scopes

Still haven't shot mine. DIP rail came in and I mounted som KAC rings on it for now. I'm thinking they're too tall.

Well you saw mine were too tall, and yours look about twice as high...
The two things to keep in mind are the objective clearing the barrel, and the bolt handle comfortably clearing the eyepiece.

Well you saw mine were too tall, and yours look about twice as high...

That's what I used; what I had laying around, but obviously it all depends the scope you end up choosing.
The bigger issue for me was that since you don't have a lot of base with these, your options for mounting the scope forward and back are very limited.

I got this one forward as far as I could (and you can see the front ring is off the receiver part of the mount) and I still would have liked it another 1/2" forward if I could have.
I tried a 1-piece ring set I had with an offset, but the gap wasn't big enough to clear the ejection port of the mount.

I also overkilled the rings, as had they been thinner (front to back; 2 screws per side vs 3) I might have gotten that extra bit I needed to move the scope forward a bit.
That is why posting what people use and what worked and didn't work is so useful vs trial and error.

OP can you post a picture of your crown? I rec'd mine today and it has a crown like the CZ452, I was glad to see my crown also looked great, they had a bad batch of shizzled up ones
