That's what I used; what I had laying around, but obviously it all depends the scope you end up choosing.
The bigger issue for me was that since you don't have a lot of base with these, your options for mounting the scope forward and back are very limited.
I got this one forward as far as I could (and you can see the front ring is off the receiver part of the mount) and I still would have liked it another 1/2" forward if I could have.
I tried a 1-piece ring set I had with an offset, but the gap wasn't big enough to clear the ejection port of the mount.
I also overkilled the rings, as had they been thinner (front to back; 2 screws per side vs 3) I might have gotten that extra bit I needed to move the scope forward a bit.
That is why posting what people use and what worked and didn't work is so useful vs trial and error.
