Looking for a new stock for my 10/22. It's a regular barrel, standard model that I've had cut back to 16" and threaded for a can. I'm ordering a set of Nodak irons to use along with a PSA micro dot.

This is not a target gun and will probably never be fired from a bench. It's strictly a walkabout plinker/pest control/camp gun.

I definately want something with a pistol grip and I'd like a collapsible/adjustable LOP stock. I like a shorter LOP and it will also be shot extensively by my wife and young son.

I'd like it to be as light weight as possible. I don't want to spend a ton and I don't really want one of those "drop in your 10/22 to make it look like something else" things.

Free floating the barrel would be cool but not absolutely necessary.

Suggestions?

Not much out there. Tapco, ATI, and Choate are the ones I know of that make adjustable stocks.

I like the Choate:  http://www.midwayusa.com/product/220824/choate-5-position-collapsible-rifle-stock-with-pistol-grip-ruger-10-22-standard-barrel-channel-synthetic-black

Looks nice but also like it might be heavy. Do you have one?

No, I do not. Sorry. I have handled a few of their side folders and they were nice.

ETA: I missed the pistol grip requirement, still worth taking a look at.

another option out there at this time, is an aluminum chassis. A KitFox Defense chassis is being delivered today.  Interesting concept that got my attention. No affiliation with the company.

+ light weight
+ AR pistol grip
+ AR buffer tube / M4 style stock

- initial buy in could be spendy, unless you have some spare AR parts lying about doing nothing

Just a note: One of the reasons this "chassis" is on my radar. I have a Mossberg MVP (bolt gun) that will be residing in a LSS chassis by MDT.

Black Hawk Axiom is another. It is very light and the grip is close to the trigger for smaller hands (kids).

I have a Choate folder for one of my 10/22s.   It feels good with the pistol grip and folds down to a compact package. The folder locks up tight as well.    The issue I have with it is the flimsy flexible forearm area/barrel channel.  There is a noticeable accuracy degradation switching from the cheapo Ruger wood stock to the Choate folder. Is it worth it???   Depends entirely on what you plan to do with it.

This looks like a good option as it seems to have the features I want for under $60.

Find you a take-off Ruger Deluxe stock. They were made in walnut, hardwood, and laminate. It's really the only way to roll with a 10-22 if you like a classic look.

My recently received Kit Fox.  Pistol grip, adjustable LOP, very light and compact, does not look like an AR or anything else.   An efficient, minimalist chassis (aluminum, no composite) with good fit and finish.  Accepts whatever AR components you choose. I am very pleased.
I am in no way associated with KFD.

+1   On the Archangel kit. I had seen these forever and always thought they were crap. Then I held one. Then I bought 3.
Very good quality.

If these were available I would buy one or two. They are all back ordered and I can't find another available online. I am very leery of buying something on back order if the supplier isn't well established. They have a product that would be very marketable.

I've talked to Dustin at Kit Fox Defense and the actual manufacturer of that chassis is thinking about doing a Takedown version, but hasn't messed with a Takedown so he doesn't know what would be involved to redesign it.  I suggest others that are interested contract them and express their desire for a Takedown version.

You seriously need to SBR one of those receivers and stick a can on a shorter barrel.  Clicky here for more info on the process.

That stock just begs for it.

No one mentioned the Nordic Components chassis...same as the factory Ruger SR22 uses.  I have one on my standard 10-22 and love the fact that it basically turns the handguard, buttstock, and grip selection into anything that fits most any AR15.  I was told that breaking down the 10-22 for a serious cleaning would require disturbing the upper and therefore the optic.  Mine allows the removal of the entire upper w/barrel by removing just the single main action screw and the two front chassis screws.  I like it because it mimics in most ways an AR15.

Looks good Engineer and even better with a can on it, I'm sure - balanced, both physically and aesthetically.

+1 on the Archangel.

I was worried at first about putting an optic on a polymer chassis, but so far, it's been rock solid, and the feel of it is just like an AR, which is why I bought it in the first place.

Granted, the Nordic would probably be nicer, but I only have around $300 in the gun as it is now, and that includes a cheapo optic and steel BUIS.

The all black Bull barrel version looks amazing. Sort of has the silhouette of a pump shotgun or something from a Bourne film.

Looks cool but does it appear that the stock has way too much drop when open? I not know that I could comfortably use the sights or a scope with that.
