basically looking for a tried and true sight. Read so many reviews where people have gone through 4-5 that break etc. Hoping there is one in my price range that is pretty solid. Will be a plinker/range toy to start and short range hunter at most. mainly looking for speed on target.
Have a newer model 10/22 with the little top rail. A few bucks more is doable but not looking to break the bank on a .22

Primary Arms has some decent red dots that should fit your budget.

Also, PSA has the Bushnell red dot (actually "T-dot" reticule) on sale for $69.99 right now.
I have one on my takedown model right now, and haven't had any problems.

I would go with the TRS-25 PSA deal as others have said. I've heard good things about that optic.

I'd recommend the TRS 25 for a range optic. I put one on my daughter's Rascal to help her see target faster.

Yup. TRS 25 is a great optic for .22.

I ordered my TRS-25s for my kids from Tiger Outfitters. Much better deal with the hi rise and free shipping for $49.99.

I have had a couple TRS-25's for a few years now and have not had a problem so far.

One is a regular model mounted on a semi auto .20ga and the other is the riser model on a M&P15-22.

Bushnell TRS-25. I have one on my Keltec KSG 12 guage and the dot hasn't moved. Very tough!

Another vote for Primary Arms, but don't make the mistake I did and buy the one that takes AA batteries first. I purchased the watch battery one a couple years ago and just replaced it with a AA model for Christmas on my 22lr CMMG upper. Forgetting the scope on I had to replace batteries 5 times in a year, and they aren't cheap.

You will need a different rail. The TRS 25 fits on a Pictinny rail.

Tried to order directly from their site which did not have free shipping and came out to $57ish but the site kept failing to accept my card number or some crap. Ordered from their Amazon site, with the free shipping for $53 instead.

oh well I bought the low utg mount for $6.53 , I was thinking it might fit the stock rail but could not find any info on the ruger website, as I have the box buried at the moment. The mount arrived, still waiting for the red dot. But if I don't like how it fits I can try the other way. or have a cheap spare mount.

well got here, seems decent. have to get a battery unless it is in there with a piece of plastic on it or something. will open it and check before running to store for battery. was hoping to make the range this weekend. If i do its gonna go with me.

Another vote for the Primary Arms red dot. I have one on my uzi carbine and am very pleased with it. Looks like the Bushnell and Aimpoint T-1 but only about $80
