Armi Jager also designed a copy of the SA80. I'm not convinced they ever made it to production, but they were an interesting idea. There is a photo of it here. LEI were planning to produce a much more convincing .22LR clone a few years ago, but it disappeared.

I've been using the AP-85 for several years. It's good fun for plinking, although it does require some looking after, and parts are not available. Magazines aren't too unusual for the .22LR model, but you'll be very unlikely to find mags for any other chambering.

This is another neat idea. Hopefully it comes to market one day.

I'm looking at getting a stock from hightowerarmory.com, it will give your 10/22 the look of a P90.

That Artemis company is about 15 minutes from my parents I will have them check into it. Looking at their info online I'm not even 100% sure they are still in business that would be a shame.

Having come across this thread yesterday via my blog, I felt I ought to respond and bring any interested parties up to speed.

My name is Ian and I am one of the Directors of 'Artemis Engineering UK'; I can confirm that my company is still active and currently working to bring the Sawfly rifle to market. The main reason for everything taking so long is that the business is being run on a part time basis until we generate sufficient funding for it to begin paying its own way, until then I have a day job to keep paying the bills! My wife is also now working out a plan for raising money with a crowd funding campaign which will be launched soon, but you'll get the heads up on this through the blog so please do keep checking in with that.

The original plan was to have a single design that would meet all the legal criteria, allowing it to be concurrently marketed in Europe, Canada and the US; thus saving the hassle and costs of multiple tooling variations for specific customer bases.............In hindsight this was an error and one which took up a huge amount of time. Now we have a completed final design which will be produced solely for the US market. All the tweaking is done and the next step is to produce some Laser sintered 'demonstrator' rifles and the workshop drawings for the tooling to be manufactured from. The only major delay we forsee will be negotiating the BATFE approval system. Whether this would be an issue if the rifle was manufactured within the US is something that I need to look into (unless any of you fellas know already).

Although my blog uses photos of the MK2 prototype these will be updated with CAD images of the latest version; essentially they will be similar in layout and overall shape, but with slight modifications that go a long way to improve the Sawfly's usability and accuracy. Oh and before anyone asks, the trigger breaks at 2.5lb and is short, responsive and crisp!

I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

We've sold a few at work in .22WMR.  People report decent reliability, and a high cool factor.  They do report that the rail on top is NOT standard spec, making it difficult to fit a wide range of accessories.

I might be down for one in .22LR, personally.

Yes, the rifle uses the GSG522 magazine, we chose this partly to save having to design our own and because GSG were kind enough to allow us to use it in the design along with the release catch mechanism.
Some might say that type of magazine has 'issues' but we have identified these and taken them into account when designing the rifle.

**NOTE** The CAD images shown are not completed and still have some components to fit.

I hope you are going to redesign that scope mount as it looks to be like a 1000 MOA mount.  Would be tough to mount any optic with that drawling.

Nope! The image looks worse that it is in reality. The distance from the centreline of the bore to the centre of the reticle is 67mm (2.6"); You aren't going to be comfortable with a lower scope position.

There is also a rail inter-mount being made available to accommodate a wider variety of optics... and we are starting to draft plans for a bullpup specific scope which has the objective lens practically sitting on the rail but having the eyepiece offset to a height of between 2.6" and 3", which will negate the need to constantly alter scope settings for target acquisition at varying ranges.

I'm in ...I just never cared for the Ps90 look/ergonomics, and the Ruger conversions and Walther just don't cut it either.  I came close to getting the HighTower kit at one time just for something different, but then I saw the weight of the whole package, something like 8 pounds!?  Then I held a real Ps90 and that convinced me.
Good idea on the GSG mags, cut costs and all that I own are reliable.

Good luck, I and a few others around here will be watching.

That's an excellent idea and don't worry about taking up my time, I have a policy of always making time for anyone who requests it - especially when they've travelled the distance you will be. (Just PM me in advance so I can clear a path through all the bits of paper and parts that are littering the place up.....I need a bigger place to be honest!)

Just to let everyone know, I have now arrived in the 21st century, having been persuaded that having a facebook account is normal behaviour.

Here's the address:  http://www.facebook.com/artemis.forest.9
If it doesn't work just log onto facebook and type in 'artemis forest' and that should work. If it totally screws up please let me know.

Now everyone can reach out to me directly. What I need is friends......apparently!
