THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT What are you guys using to hit 200 yards? I just wished they made a Savage 110ba a bit smaller for .22 cus that's a pretty rifle. Thanks in advance. |

200 yard competitions with 22s are extremely rare, at least around here, so I don't have any experience at that distance. If you're looking for something "tactically" styled, you might want to take a look at some of the Savages. If you want tactical, and aren't worried about a budget, get a heavy barreled 40x, drop it in a Rem 700 stock of your choosing, and put a nice scope on it. Some guys do that so they have a rimfire trainer very similar to their centerfire.
I've shot both of my Anschutz 54 Match rifles at 200 yards with pretty good results, as well as my Rem. 540xr sitting in a 540x stock. Since I don't feel like cranking knobs all the time, I appreciated having a mil-dot scope. Starting with a 100 yard zero, I find that I have somewhere in the range of 4-5 mils of drop at 200, depending on ammo and such. |

Savage MkII FV-SR is what I use for 22 competitions around here.

I guess you'd have to further describe the competition you're talking about. Benchrest?? .22 tactical??
Only .22 matches around here are sporter rifle. Need more info on the rules and maybe your budget. Savages and CZ's are pretty good budget wise. CZ's have been getting more expensive though. Mine is a Mannlicher stock and it's a damn tackdriver. The only 200 yard .22 shooting I've done for S&G's is with my 40X off the bench just to see how the groups held up. Weren't too bad if you watched for the puffs of wind. Some days with just a little fluttering wind it's a humbling experience. |
