THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Walked into one of my favorite gun stores today and I saw the new GSG STG44 in .22 cal.

This thing looks fantastic and feels incedible. It is heavy. Very heavy. I like that. Since the only real STG44's I have seen have been behind glass I can't say it is an exact copy but it appears to be damn close. Real wood grips and buttstock. Adjustable rear sight, very similar to an RPK/AK (windage adjustable). Front sight post comes to a very fine point and is not a square post like an AR or AK. The dust cover locks down and then springs open when the bolt is retracted. The bolt can be locked back by retracting it and rotating it a few degrees into a notch.

The metal is not or does not appear to be pot metal like on the other "CLONE" .22s I have handled. It appears to be "real" metal like some sort of aluminium alloy or steel.

The finish is realy great. A sort of deep black bluing.

I want this rifle.

It costs $599!!!! OUCH!

crappy droid phone pics.

Very nice. I am looking forward to hearing how it works before buying one. Was burned on the PPS so I am more careful now.

the trigger is a little long but smooth. Think Hk 93,94,91 but not as heavy.

GSG makes better .22LR firearms then Puma by far. But $600 bucks is pretty steep.

I guess it is a supply and demand. Not many of these in the pipeline now so it is what the market will bear right?

If I had $600 burning a hole in my wallet I would buy it in a moment. I know that if anything went wrong or it was a lemon this shop would take care of me. It is worth paying a little more to me for that peace of mind.

GSG.....oh how I remember those things.....little screws holding the pot metal bolt together....the barrel that would flex in your hand......People were crazy over them when they first came out. Paid big prices for them. They were cool....but come on, not built to last at all. I know...I had one. It was a fun blaster, but in my heart I knew it would never last, not the way it was built.

Hope this thing works out better. I will wait for the market to settle and the bugs to get worked out. Oh, it will have bugs....they always do!
But I also want one of the Uzi's...same deal...when the market cools and bugs are taken care of.

That is a neat toy, but a little pricey for what it is.

I'd like to get one if it's a quality piece. If it is, I think 600 bucks is very reasonable. Sturmgewehre said he was going to do a review of the rifle when it came out so I'm anxious to see what he thinks of it.

Looks sweet.
How does it field strip and is it simple without taking screws and springs out just to clean it?
Positively have to wait for reviews before forking out 5-6 bills

I wish someone would have the smarts to build this in 7.62x39!

+1 . I would like that also, but a .22lr is a good runner up. I thought that this was going to go for a bunch more than this.... is it threaded?

These actaully are metal and they come in a wooden weapons case as well or at least they are suposed to did yours come with one? scroll down a bit to see the nice case it comes with this rifle has alot more time put into it. Why wouldd they go through the trouble of a wooden case and real wood stocks and all metal components for it when they could have went plastic. I hope to see this change the minds of the nay sayers on GSG as a company. I have a GSG5 and am happy with it once I do my part it performs well yes it is not a 10/22 that you can shoot and never clean but If someone cannot afford an mp5 I like these considering hk didn't make theirs till they saw the market GSG created for them. I have never had an issue that I couldn't handle with my GSG5. I will own one of these STG44 as well anyways here is a link to a thread about the stg44 with pics of it's case.

They'd have to either tool up to build the whole rifle in the US or design a nerfed version they could legally import and then re-manufacture as a 922R compliant rifle....and they would have to source the compliance parts themselves as no one makes them....either way it would probably cost a over a grand and be competing with higher end AKs. And that's not counting the work to modify the design to take the 7.62x39 round. Unless they kill the Bush, Clinton and Soetoro bans via E.O. I doubt it will happen.

It's too bad because you can get them in 8mm Kurtz in Canadia. You make a good point. Man, I am so sick of politicians!
