THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Was at the monthly Gun Show around here and I have looked every visit for a well priced 10/22. Last month there was a nice old stainless beater that was ~$140 and it looked like it needed some work (Scratches, dents, dings, gouges in the stock). I kept telling myself to hold off, I'll eventually find one. Was all set to head to my local Gun store after discussing with the owner what I was looking for, had a new one picked out but wanted to wait till after this weeks show to buy.

So you tell me. How did I do?

Ended up walking away with this for $180 otd. Best I can tell it's a 2004 build 10/22. Came with 1 magazine, scope rings and a Bushnell Sportview 4x32 Scope. I don't know much about these rifles but, from my quick google search it's a metal frame, stock looks to be in great shape (If it's original.) and the scope is no treasure, but the glass is perfect and everything looks and functions flawlessly.

I'm not sure what I'm going to end up doing with it. Probably shoot it a bit and then decide if I wanna swap out any parts. Been looking at the Volquartsen kits and anything else I could find. Also need a few magazines. But they were WAY over priced at the show. Ideally I'd like to turn it into a precision shooter and have my girlfriends daughter use it as her own. So eventually a girly stock change might be required, and definitely a bi-pod.

It is a nice example of a 10/22. You paid top dollar, though. Looks to have a metal trigger guard, which is nice and does not look to have been handled much.
If you were going to change everything out anyways, you should have bought the less expensive one and ditched the stock.
It is a nice rifle and I would probably have picked it up as well. I don't mind spending a little more if it means having quality, and it's a nice scope.

Thanks all, regardless if it's top dollar or not, I feel good about the purchase.

Dirty, locally the cheapest I'm seeing at any store new is $259. Cheapest I saw at the show was ~230. So at 180 with the scope, it can't be that bad.

I ended it by saying I would have bought as well, top dollar or not.
New ones here are going for $180 - $230
Low price for plastic trigger guard, high price for the stainless ones.
Crap, I'd pay you $200 for yours right now.
Every show I go to, the toothless animals I see want well above gun shop prices for the cheap ones.

I would have bought the stainless beater for $140 as long as the metal was fine. You can buy a factory wood stock for next to nothing (under $20). The one you bought looks nice, the Bushnell isn't high dollar but should work fine.

That is "USED???"

Lets see, before tax, fees and crap, a new one here is 209.00 plus tax and fees would probably be closer to $250.00 .. add your scope and rings... between 60.00 and 120.00.

Yeah I would say you did great, I mean, look at the condition of that rifle. WHoever owned it, babied it. At least from the pic I see. Most likely it is even dialed in

ONE TIIIIIIIIIIIINY problem though...

In Arfcom fashion I would have bought both

Stainless, no matter how scratched up can be redone with one of those 3M scotch-brite pads and water. (Ask me about my Mark II that was scratched all to hell so the dealer sold it to me 20% off because of the scratches. I redo stainless on appliances all the time. Took the Mark II home and by the time I was done with it, looked factory packed)

gunnut284... What is a good source for a factory wood stock that cheap? My daughter has one with a synthetic stock and wants to pink camo it. I dont want to screw up the stock but I thought a good wood stock that she can interchange when she grows out of the pink camo phase would be good.

I've seen them listed a a couple places, I think Clark Custom and AGP, for about $15 (I'm going of memory so I could be off). I've seen them at gun stores locally for about the same, when I worked at a shop a few years ago we had at least half a dozen in the back we would sell for $10-20 if someone asked for one. I think I have two now collecting dust, I'll double check and if I do I'll send you one.

Don't new ones go for $240 with plastic trigger guards?
I'm seeing at least a $30 scope, $10 rings and a $200+ gun.
I'd jump on $180

Good gun

Tons of Fun

Hours of shooting

Lifetime of use

What else could you want (besides a .38spl) ?

Nobody gives a shit what you think.
Or what I think.

Dirty, didn't mean for anything to come off as negative. :) Just meant to say for my area the price seemed pretty good!

Everyone else, thank you. I'm very happy with the purchase.

DrFrige, I asked if it was used too. The thing looks immaculate inside and out.

Finally got out to shoot it today. Put 3-4 types of ammo through it and it ate all of them like it was nobodies business. (PMC, PMC Sidewinder, American Eagle, and Federal) I did my zeroing for the scope at 25 yards and it was still accurate within about 1.5". I think I could improve that since I was standing unsupported. The scope was extremely clear and it's going to stick on the gun. I know a lot of people say you get what you pay for, but this scope is no slouch for a 22 and I think it'll be great for the kids to learn on.

There are a couple mods that are without a doubt required for me though before I get to any major use or getting the GF's daughter on it. A bolt release is a must. What an absolute PAIN IN THE BUTT the stock bolt catch is. Thinking maybe a little trigger lightening as well. I don't need a bi-pod but I think my GF's daughter would benefit as she's very small and won't be able to hold it. That would mean I may be forced into a new stock, but to be honest, I really loved the wood one. It's beatiful and comfortable for me.

Once again, thank you to all!

Where was this? I am casually shopping for a 10/22 and would be all over that deal.
