Thanks, mbogo The rail is made from aluminum and has rollpins attaching the steel claws with removable screws at all four corners with it's own allen wrench included, sure you could always go spend $100 dollars for the one from Umarex but I would rather spend the extra money I saved on enjoying my rifle instead of bitching about if it's an airsoft item or not. The rail has held up very well not needing any adjustments at all from my eotech to aimpoint I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a receiver rail mount and for the price you can't beat it. This..... I've went through a couple more bulk packs since my first outings with the EBay rail and it has held up fine. No issues with either the rail or the S.P.O.T.. |

Thanks, mbogo I've mentioned it on the first page under a post for mods or accessories, but I ended up using a pair of those ratcheting Craftsman clamps to hold the "claws" in place while I tightened the screws. I still haven't installed a red dot yet due to some issues, Grandfather passed away in March (he would have been 80 in April), replaced my CCW 2 months ago (sold the Ruger LCR .357 and bought a Cimarron 5" 1911), and then my sewage line collapsed last month (had to replace sewage line, water line and some of the plumbing under the house due to various issues). The only disaster I've had this year that didn't cost me money was my truck. Valve got stuck in the head on #4 cylinder. Thankfully, it was a known issue on Chevy Colorado and GM had extended the warrently to about 7 years/ 75k miles (made it by about 2 oil changes). After I get done building a patio for my wife this month, I'm hoping that will keep her happy enough to allow me to work on a few more projects. |

Trevort,
That is good to know. The screws on the UTG P669 and NcStar mounts do not come out of the claws; after a certain point they just turn freely. I have ordered the mount from eBay and look forward to a proper flat mount. mbogo |

Guess I'll fork over the money for the real deal |

Jacknife,
I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I misinterpreted your statement about the clamps; I thought you used them just to keep the mount on the receiver while tightening the screws. My presumption is that your mount also has the angular projections on two of the claws (as opposed to the flat prjections omn the other side. Is that correct? mbogo |

Also, a bit of a minor update on my mount, I took my MP5 out of the cabinet and the mount had come lose sitting in the cabinet. I think the screws may have backed out. After I initially mounted the rail, it felt very solid. But today it i lose on the side with the angular projections on the claws. |

Bummer. I wonder if the Airsoft rifles have a slightly different attachment point.
Well, here's hoping the one I bought from eBay works better. mbogo |

Hopefully, in the next day or so, I'm going to try and work on the UTG mount to see if I can make it work. The culprit seems to be the claws that have the angles instead of the flat tops. I am looking at hitting the angled claws with a dremel to flatten them. If this doesn't work, I may hold off for a while longer on optics and instead focus on the tri-rail handguard and a fixed stock.

I have a Gemtech Outback II Suppressor and it looks like the Walther P22 Adapter (M8x.75 to 1/2x28) will allow me to mount the Suppressor to the HK MP5 A5.
Has anyone shot the rifle with a Suppressor? |

Had another outing with MP5SD-22.
I have to have nearly 2500 rounds through it, and have loved every shot. For a gun show impulse buy, it was a wise decision. |

Got mine out last weekend. Took the brother, niece and nephew out and had an absolute ball with it. I think I need to change out the front sight blade, but otherwise it was a great little shooter. The kids loved it! |

Just got my fixed stock for the A5....FYI it adds a little over an inch to your shoulder than with the collapsable.
I like the gun....but I like all HK stuff. Also got an HK 10 round mag....same length & look of the 25 but only holds 10. Looks like you can't redily convert it to 25 though? |

I tried several "cheap air soft" mounts for my HK MP5 .22 and had no luck. I bought one off ebay and the ear broke off when I put it on. The other one didnt fit over the top of the receiver.
till I found this one. http://www.evike.com/product_info.php?products_id=30139 it has worked well so far. I added a UTG MAD0340 mount. The mount puts the red dot above the front sight and allows you to see through to use the iron sights. Its $12.00 and with shipping its still cheap. On my other MP5 .22 I just picked up used, has the $99.00 HK parts mount on it. Thats a very nice mount but I dont think I could spend that much for it. I was lucky the guy included it with the gun. If the cheap one brakes I will buy the $99.00 one for my other gun at that point. I wish someone made a Choate type side folder for this. I would snap that up right away. I love this gun!! |

Thanks for the link to that mount. Since Saturady is supposed to be around 103 without the heat index in my neck of the woods, I'm hoping to work on the claws for the UTG mount, and the magwell on my WASR 10/63 to make it take european surplus mags. If flattening the angled claw doesn't work, I may order the one you mentioned. I still need to dig in the drainage pipes for my down spouts before I pour my patio, but high temps will make that a morning and late evening job this weekend. Thus I'll have the middle of the day to work on my rifles. I'm afraid that if I don't work on them this week, I won't get to them this month. Among the my irons in the fire for this month are: 1) install pvc drainage for my downspouts and the condensate line for the hvac; 2) pour the concrete patio; 3) build a new, larger stoop at the back door with new brick steps; 4) build a 3' tall retaining wall at the back of the patio that will be topped with a 2.5' deep table top; 5)build a 2' tall 28' long retaining wall/herb garden along the side patio; 6) run power to my shed. Needless to say, I have a busy July in the works. |

I have a Umarex Colt (Walther) C 4 22 cal, a Umarex Hk 5 SD (Walther), and a GSG AK 47 22 cal.........................The HK G5 SD is my newest addition with only 50 or so rounds thru it......Red Dot scope zeroed to 25 yards and put ten rounds into about 1 inch dia at 25 yards....Not bad for new firearm...........................My other two are tried and true with many thousands of rounds through them.........Heard many whinny reviews that the Colt and GSG AK 22 were poor quality......I have nothing but praise for the rifles and many people that I know that have these rifles like them also....
I hope the HK is as good as my AK and Colt.....I like the feel and the looks of the firearm........ |

I bit the bullet and bought the $100 one. Installed in 4 minutes and is solid as a rock. It was worth the price to me to have a mount that was specifically designed for the MP5A5. My Aimpoint CompM2 does not co-witness with the iron sights but I am not concerned with that.

I had my buddy mill off the radius to a flat on the 2 legs that were problems. Before that, I couldn't get it to lock down at all, even using clamps first.
In case anyone is wondering, those are not roll pins holding the legs on. They are tiny allen set screws that are removable. You can take them out, get the legs off for much easier modification. Just remember to locktite them back in. I now have a good positive rail lock for my red dot! |

I was also curious about the SD model and if anyone is shooting this suppressed ? Can it be done and if so how? Does it replace the fake can or go on the end of it? Any pics would be helpful. Thanks
