Anyone run a Khukuri on their gear ? How do you have it attached to your gear ? Picked up a Himalayan Imports Khukuri and would like to hook it up to my battle belt

Were you blind the whole time, OP?

And yes, I know the knife/machete above isn't technically a Khukuri.  It brings up a point, though, how big is the one you purchased?

My guess is you'd be best served with a drop leg or cross-draw setup on your belt.  If it's a shorter version, you might be able to get away with a horizontal small-of-back sheath.

I ask myself why, but then I answer myself........why not.

Funny you should ask.......just for kicks. It actually wears well and the custom leather sheath drops it to a nice height. I feed the top loop of the sheath up through the holes for the drop leg attachment. The smaller leather wrapped wood sits to high and hits my plate carrier. When I don't want to carry it I swap with a double rifle mag pouch. My khukuri was handmade by Gurkha's in Nepal.

I looked for pictures on line of how the Gurkas carry their Kukris with their combat kit, but I couldn't find anything clear.  In the few pictures I found where I could see a Kukri, it appears they are carrying them on their right or left hips.

Here is a story of an SAS Sergeant using a Kukri that will warm your heart!

Who made the custom sheath ? My Khukuri is about 17 1/2 OAL and was made by Himalayan Imports Royal Kami Bura. These blades just feel so good in hand, powerful and scary sharp !!!

I'm not sure who made the sheath. I ordered from Frank @ http://knivesbyhand.com.
Great guy.

If you look at the picture of Harold Marshall, a WWII Canadian sniper in this link, you can make out the pommel and sheath of a Kukhri under his left arm. Snipers found the knife to be an excellent tool for hide construction. And I love this pic!

In a lot of pictures I have seen it looks like the Gurkhas just tuck the sheath in their belt and go.
