One wrong move and the dog gets it!
Seriously though, with how much packs come up I'm surprised there isn't a tacked thread for them. |

On the real, the luxury items seemed to only make the list for a very short period of time, before they no longer seem worth it. After all, you have to carry that stuff, and a rip-it is heavy for very little benefit. |

Yup...figure mine a 4500 ci ruck but I run the low pro lid. The top lid doubles as a funny pack etc. But once removed drops the cubes down to 33_3500 iirc . But I carry food...water...sleep gear ..shelter...thermarest...etc. ill run to top lid if temps are super low as winter gear gets bulky etc. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Somehow i doubt just that 1L would cut it for me. Agreed. A bunch of stuff is cool, until you run out of water an hour in or start freezing. Mattyvac's singular water bottle is about 75% less water than I carry in my pack just for 6-8 mile ruck marches every thursday morning, its less than I carry for a normal excursion to the Zoo. Even carrying a gallon plus of water I have run out before and become dangerously dehydrated. If your bag is packed with any sort of survival undertone at all water should be your priority, not an afterthought. Trust me, its way more useful than a shemagh. |

It also depends on the area you are located. I live in AZ for a short mountain run I went on the day after xmas I still brought a gallon of water with me. If you are somewhere where water is plentiful and easy to access your number could vary but you could still be fine. |

I've started searching for a pack for hiking to a remote shooting range on a friend's mountain top property. I'd like to be able to reach an AR mag or two on the side of the pack- is that do-able? I want to make a mini-range bag/hiking pack. Carry mags, targets, staple gun, water bladder, snacks, med kit, etc. So I figure lots of MOLLE, maybe a few taco pouches on the sides, etc. I have a pistol-only battle belt, so this would be do don for rifle work. Recommendations?
