Whoa! Thanks for the link. Although that style of nylon gear is not what I am after, I appreciate it. Brings me back to recruit training and messing around with my correcting my un-sat 782 gear.

They will continue to struggle if they want to make alice 3x30 ar mag pouches and sell them for $30 when you can buy them for $3.

I do like that they offer mag pouches for damn near everything.

On that, their smallest vest is an 8 mag. Why? Make a 4-6 mag.

A 12 mag rig is not a good civvy market rig. It's actually pretty absurd outside of a Ranger batt or LI unit.

If these folks are friends of yours, Raf, give them a heads up on what the market currently is.

Yeah, it's no wonder why they're struggling. Modularity is the word of the day. (Heck, the word of the decade.) They're trying to sell cookie-cutter load-bearing vests and ALICE pouches for pretty high prices. I'll grant that some of their designs are interesting, in that they're not something you see frequently. But, there's a bit of a reason you don't see $200+ SKS and Garand load-bearing vests.

That was like looking at a Army Surplus store outside the main gate of a military base circa 1993.

The gear may indeed be made well, but they are behind the times on design. Though if I wanted to use crap-tastic ALICE gear and needed pouches, they'd be the people I buy them from.

Sorry bro, I can't help those guys.  They have truly missed one of the very key elements of business....Knowing your market, and what it will bear.

Maybe nobody is making it because the market isnt there.....not a sustainable business even if they make some unique products.

Hey gents: Thanks for the very candid comments. I started working for ZMP...and we agree with all of your comments! A re-design is in order. Stay tuned. Thanks again!

Raf, I gave ZMP's facebook page a link to this thread.

We live in an interesting time when the market in vocal enough to tell manufacturers what they want or need.

The CSV-M10, for instance, in an 8 mag format would allow a pretty nice 4 mag platform with the pouches being 2 mag each instead of 3.

To be completely honest, one of the biggest problems I have with their pouches and chest rigs is the quick release buckles they use. I put up with those type buckles for 8 years in the Army because that's what I was given and there was nothing else available. I can't tell you, though, how many buckles I saw broken during those 8 years, which meant the pouches got replaced. That sucked enough when it was a $10 pouch on a Private's or Specialist's salary. When it's a $44 pouch, or $250 vest, which would have to go back to the manufacturer for repair, that's a big negative. The big name gear makers use Fastex buckles for a reason. If one breaks, it's not that tough to replace it, even if it means taking it to a local seamstress.

(Oh, and wsix, the CSV-M10 mag pouches do hold 2, not 3, mags each. There are 6 pouches on the vest, not 4-three on each side.)

Right, I stand corrected.

They actually have an 8 mag.
http://www.zmptactical.com/fmco/csv-m10-m-16-us-universal-8-mag-utility-vest

I would rock that, but I would pay the 10 bucks for the fastex buckle "stealth" option.

If they are struggling, they will continue to struggle with their current product offerings.

IIRC, they do have the option for a fastex type buckle for their pouches. At least that's what I think they mean when they say, "Non Adjustable Q/R Buckle".

Of course they charge extra for it...

Yeah. but if you need an SKS stripper clip pouch, or an M1A or Springfield/Mauser stripper clip pouch, there's scant alternatives.

It's not so much what they make, as what they make that nobody else makes.

You hit the nail on the head, raf....It couldn't be much harder to turn the ALICE clip loops into PALS loops. I think then it would be good to go. I kinda dig the retro buckles. Hell, if they made the pouches MOLLE compatible, I'd buy some of their products to put together a sort of retro setup for my new M1A.

I've had so many problems problems with broken knock-off surplus ALICE pouches, so the fact that these have full length dividers makes them pretty tempting. A 2x2 molle footprint for 3 mags is attractive.

Looks like a bunch of their pouches and such have an option for MOLLE/PALS compatible mounting rather than ALICE/M1956/M1967 clips.

I really want their 120 round SKS pouch, I just dont want to pay 44 bucks for it. 120 rounds is nice, but I'll stick with my surplus commie 40 round SKS pouch i picked up for 7 bucks off ebay on my "Tornado Belt"
