Is anyone using the Kryptek HL camo? Specifically on a belt set up?

If it makes a difference, I know that HSGI makes their suregrip belt and lots of pouches in Highlander.

I have one XLR Taco and two double decker tacos. Plus the Mini EOD Pouch all in Highlander from HSGI. All I need is the padded belt and a dump pouch.

I build holsters, and one of the options I offer is a cordura wrap. I just got some highlander in to play with and I want some pictures of a holster with some gear to match. I know the HL wont be a big seller but I like it none the less.

Not much I can do on a chest rig. I'm picking up a sewing machine on Saturday. Plan on making up some hearing protection covers.

I am.  Only pouch on mine that isn't is my dump pouch.

P.S. I run a Safariland ALS holster I painted o.d.

That looks great. I would love to get a kydex holster in highlander. No one makes one yet. Was considering just going with a coyote brown.

I've got an OWB Kydex holster for my G23/19 and an IWB for my shield, both in Kryptek Mandrake patterns. Not wraps or anything, it's the actual Kydex. A few different kydex color schemes are available.

IM me if you'd like the companies name. I don't wanna clutter up a thread from another holster maker.

Anyone can get the kydex, but the kydex stuff is shit, atleast in all the other camos I have used. I literately have to wrap the kydex in tape as soon as it comes out of the press to save the finish in it. The stuff rubs off just looking at it.
I make it still but, I try to give guys the heads up on the durability of it.

Probably all the same stuff but mine has given me no problems so far (knock on wood). I have rubbed them on hard surfaces, worn them for long car rides, sweat all over them, hiked, inched by trees and rock walls that I had totally expected it to scratch them, etc... No rubbing yet. Pattern is still good to go.

Heck, I'll be hiking Mt. Rainier this weekend with the OWB on. Maybe I'll torture test it.

Sounds good, maybe they finally changed their application process. Seemed like it was a thin screen printing done on brown kydex.

If Kryptek wasn't so overpriced, I'd go to it completely. It looks great but I can't justify $110 for a pair of pants, etc.

I just got a pair of the Vertx pants for $80. I'm still analyzing the pattern in whether I can justify incorporating another camo (really like Multicam) but as for the actual pant quality themselves, initially they look outstanding. Stitching is really clean and tight, YKK locking zipper, quick access pockets, true fitting, and a really neat hidden zipper pocket. Definitely get what you pay for.

Kryptek advertises a Highlander as their "transitional" pattern however Mandrake is the closest match to Multicam. In my limited testing in the North East, Mandrake seems to be the best transitional pattern in IMO. That said, surprisingly Multicam performed very close to Mandrake. Kryptek looks like a hunting camo to me which is a plus if you don't want to be that douchenozzel showing up hunting in combat Multicam. The shape of Kryptek is very tree like, again making it well suited for hunting. I have a Multicam Tropic hat coming from Viper to further compare. One thing I dislike about Kryptek is their materials are generally 50 50 NYCO and seem to be a bit more reflective than other camo offerings.

$80 might be more doable. Where did you find them at that price?

Yeah, the non-mil look is something I am interested in too, plus Kryptek just looks so dang good. The fact that molle web gear can be had in Kryptek is also a big plus because I use molle accessories when hunting.

Thanks for the info.

Are you really located in FM? I had to google what that was Seems Multicam Tropic would work best there, although Kryptek Mandrake wouldn't be bad.

Opticsplanet.com has them for $90, then you can apply whatever discount they have going on.

Here's a comparison between Multicam and Kryptek Mandrake. Notice the Multicam gear in my experience seems to be greener than the NYCO Multicam. So combining Multicam gear you already own with Kryptek Mandrake (or if Kryptek is not available in piece of gear you like and you get it in Multicam) will work very well.

The holsters look great.  I might have to try the cordura wrap sometime on kydex.

I do really like the highlander pattern though.  I got some 500d in it to try my hand at sewing up some gear for myself.  Made this D3/VOCR style chestrig as a test in refreshing my sewing abilities, and really like the way the pattern looks.

I'm not I have to buy used holsters and strip them down. I give a heads up to ppl that order that they are used and I clean them up the best I can.  There are a few other types out there but I think SL had the best mechanism there is so that is what I use. I just up charge for what my cost is for them.
