I have the ones with the pistol pouches and it is perfect unless you spend a lot of time on your belly. Then it's awful.

Got both, double decides and solo's and separate pistol pouches. I was using the solo's (rifle and pistol) on a Tactical Tailor Mini fir competition. I then got some double decides for added pistol mags when I used my 1911. I would switch them back and forth depending on which pistol I was using but for the last year I have just left the double decides on along with two pistol tacos that are my main pouches for pistol.
I wear my chest rig on my chest, some folks wear them lower so being prone from me isn't a problem. I also switch from using an AR/AK/Sig/1911 with these pouches and they are the best IMHO for a one pouch system. |

I use the singles on my chest rig and the double deckers on my drop leg. They are very large if you have both a rifle mag and pistol mag inserted (especially if your using hk45 mags). As stated before it really sucks trying to go prone with the double decker.
That being said, Hsgi tacos rock! |

Just picked up 3 singles and a double. Does anyone have any pointers about mounting these damn things? Been working at it for over an hour and only have one on.

Definitely go with the rifle shingles.
I don't get why people put double-deckers on their chest. Aside from the PITA when going prone, what happens when you have to transition to your secondary? 90% of the time your rifle goes right across your chest......right across your secondary reloads...... |

Get out of here with your common sense. This man speaks the truth. I try to keep the front as slim as possible and keep my pistol reloads off to the side for the reasons posted above. |

There is a video on Youtube of Topher showing how to mount them. They are a bitch to do if you have never done it, once you get the hang of it they are a bitch to do but just take less time.
On the upside they are ROCK SOLID once mounted! |

Unless you are at war you only need a couple spare mags anyway. I use three singles on a HSGI/AO chest rig.
