THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I currently have an older model Eagle Plate carrier with cummerbund. It's a large (i think) but it's a tad short for my torso. what i'd like to find is something that can better fit my lanky torso, but still keep my plates where they should be. thoughts?

Check out the SKD P.I.G. It allows you to run any length plate up to XL. That will give you at least another 1" to 1 1/2" of length on the front and back for added protection.

Keep in mind though, that plate carriers typically only cover from your sternal notch to just above your belly button. That is normal so that you can sit down in a car, etc wouth your plates riding up into your throat.
I do my best to believe the crap in your posts.....

I agree with ^ get the PIG PLATE carrier, thats what im using right now. very high sitting.

Its not the gut shots you have to worry about, its the upper area that matters the most.

You understand that a PC that better fits your torso, used with the same plates you have now, is going to provide exactly nothing other than perhaps an inch or three of MOLLE real estate, right? What exactly is your perceived benefit to getting a long PC?

Sounds like you need larger plates too. Your plates should match vest / plate carrier size, I.E. if you need a Ex Large plate carrier, you'll also need ex-large plates.
First Spear makes a nice armor / plate carriers. As others suggested, PIG makes good products too.

Plate carriers carry plates

If your plates are where they are supposed to be, whats the problem?

Plates arent supposed to cover your entire upper body.

Ever seen chris farley do the "fat man in a tiny jacket routine"? That's kinda the feeling I get. Mind you I'm not fat (6'4 200lbs) and the carrier holds them in the right spot, I just feel.... odd wearing it. Like I'm wearing my 11yo's suit coat or something
