If you're running both, the Tacos are the best for versatility. There are dedicated pouches that work better for each platform, but nothing works as well for both.

That's what I had figured, time to bust up my fingers installing the tacos!

I don't like the Taco's..... I've had a couple of 40rd AK mags fall out.
But I do swear by HSGI's 'universal modular rifle pouches' with the flaps. I run three systems, AR15/M16 mags, AK mags and M14 mags.... These pouches hold them all. These are the best pouches I have found and I bought a ton of pouches to try even though I've read here that they were good or bad, just wanted to see if they worked for me best. But I swear by the universal modular pouches, holds everything and then some.... Even holds the surefire 60rd very securely and covers it with a flap if you want to and if you don't want the flap just push it down in the pouch and run it like any open top. The pouches have shock cord on them so if you do run them open top the mags will not fall out. Did I say I swear by them? |

Yeah... expect to be all like "that looks sooo easy"... Fuck. Learn this word very very well. You will use it quite a few (hundred) times when trying to mount a TACO pouch. By the time I was done with three of them, I wanted to bludgeon an elephant to death with a malice clip. |

By the time I was done with three of them, I wanted to bludgeon an elephant to death with a malice clip. I did three of my double decker tacos in 30 mins at the most the first time I mounted them. It was on a battle belt though with the stiffener and in er belt removed, so it was more flexible and that seemed to help. I bet they would be more of a bitch on something like a plate carrier. |

I must be one of the few who does not like the TACOs.
The alternative I found were the universal rifle pouches offered by specter gear... pricey but I love them. They will take any mag you wanna throw in there, not to tight- certainly not loose. Flaps are adjustable (my biggest criteria: flaps) with hook and loop. Check em out... they sure simplified my mag carry. Specter Universal Mag Pouch |

Another vote for HSGI Taco pouches.
I recommend a pair of needle nose pliers and a flat head screwdriver to help you install them. You'll learn new swear words that would make a sailor blush. |

A few tacos for your speed loads, and then just a universal flap pouch such as a saw pouch or http://www.condoroutdoor.com/ma6doublearakmagpouch.aspx for a budget.
